This week's question is: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

MY ANSWER: I honestly don't mind love triangles. Some of them can be really good! But I guess one pet peeve I have which does extend to movies and whatnot, is when the characters fall in love too fast. They say it's love and all that. This is just my personal feelings, but I can't believe people can fall in love and use that word when describing someone they met just a few days ago. Granted that's usually how it is in books and movies, but it does annoy me sometimes. I do believe that it is possible to happen, but every time?

TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.

This week's question is: Writing Reviews 101: What's your process for writing book reviews? Any tips or suggestions you would recommend to other bloggers?

MY ANSWER: Uh...I don't have much of a process. Since I finished school I can read one book at a time now! Which I love! I love not having to juggle schoolwork and my reading time. So I might be a simpleton since I know other bloggers can juggle 3-4 books sometimes! That's too much for me!

So I put all my focus in reading the one book and keep my mind on it. When I write a review I try to give a little info about the plot that may not be there in the cover description without giving away spoilers. I tend to talk about pacing and characters and whatever other trait that stuck out most to me.

I don't know if I have any tips or recommendations to other bloggers. I always try to keep in mind write the review you would want to read. If you like short reviews, write short ones. If you like details, add in details. If you wouldn't read the review, don't write it that way. Keeping things short is sometimes best, something I've been trying to do, since I follow so many blogs, reading short reviews gives me more time to get through all the blogs!

  1. Yeah, I know right? It's like two characters can't get involved unless it's labeled 'love' or something; you're gonna have a crush on someone, or go on a passionate rampage on them, but love isn't like instant coffee, I think. They're in lust and crushing on each other, not in love, these notions should be separated better and called for what they are.

Great advice on the review writing, it's the best I've read in fact. Don't write something you wouldn't wanna read - excellent advice!

    Have a fab weekend Jess!

  3. Agreed! Falling in love the second you see someone is a bit too unrealistic! Old follower!

  4. That's the simplest and one of the best ways of putting things: don't write reviews you wouldn't want to read. Love it!

  5. That's my peeve also. It just seems bizarre to have characters fall in love in the span of a page LOL

  6. Pace is an interesting factor to always look at. I think I'm willing to forgive slower pacing if it pays off in the end. I think I only really notice it if it bothers me for some reason. It's definitely a more technical part of writing. I'm probably not always aware that it's what's bothering me, lol. I'm just not always aware of it...For shame! (on me, lol)

  10. Oooh instant love really bugs me too! Every once in a while is ok, but it happens too often in books/movies for it to be believable. Great answer!

  11. I've just popped over to check your answer too. And I agree, hence why in my own book The Hunted, my main character doesn't admit to any sort of deep feelings until well into the forth book! She admits attraction and a definite 'like' of the males leads, but she's pretty certain not to necessarily swoon!

  12. Insta-love is a popular pet peeve and one I totally agree with!

  13. I hate when characters fall in love to quickly because the story just seems very unrealistic. I'd rather have the tension when two people fall in love and the tension just gets better throughout the book!

  16. I don't mind about love triangles either, but you"re right when the person falls in love so fast it's so unbelievable that it's difficult to accept it.

  17. I agree when it's just obviously too fast. Sometimes books or movies can be over a longer period though even though you don't see it all and I can forgive that a bit, but when it goes to insta-love I'm a bit more meh towards it. It needs a good reason to work!

Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
