Special Tease!

Okay, so I'm reading Cynthia Hand's Hallowed now and came across a teaser that was just too good to pass up! So today's a special day in which I will share it with you!

"I did get so wigged out that I sneaked out to his house a couple of times in the middle of the night to watch over him while he slept, just in case, I don't know, his comic book collection decided to spontaneously combust. This was dumb and admittedly creepy in an Edward Cullen kind of way, but it was the only thing I could think to do." Kindle loc 799/3670*

*Quote does come from my e-ARC so quote and location are not final!*

But wasn't it just too funny?! I got a kick out of it!

Waiting on Wednesday

I hate waiting...
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

Moving onto to more 2012 releases I have one that won't come as a shock to anyone (just try and guess ;)  ) and another one I can't wait to read!

The Ultimate Sacrifice.

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there’s more at stake than fighting. There’s saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay’s wrath. There’s keeping Ansel safe, even if he’s been branded a traitor. There’s proving herself as the pack’s alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers’ magic once and for all. And then there’s deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

In the final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Andrea Cremer creates a novel with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until its final pages. A dynamic end to this breathtaking trilogy.

Soooooooo can't wait to see how this one ends!!

The sensational fourth novel in the 13 to Life series sees Jessica and the Rusakuvas fighting to overcome one of their biggest challenges yet--the possibility of a cure for lycanthropy. With the threat of the mafia seemingly gone and the company's headquarters in Junction destroyed, Pietr Rusakova is adjusting to being a normal teen and Jess is realizing normalcy may not be what she wanted after all. But both Jess and Cat know the truth--that normal can't be taken for granted. Their precious cure isn't permanent--and when a new danger stalks into their small town, Alexi decides he must overcome his issues with the mother who abandoned him to be raised by wolves and make a brand new deal to save his adopted family.

Surprised, right?! I can't wait to read this! Just dying to get my hands on a copy! And word was, something I recall Shannon saying sometime back, that the girl on the cover is not Jessie! So I am dying to know who she is. I have my theory, but only time will tell!

In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox is a weekly blog post hosted by Kirsti over at The Story Siren and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Another slow week, but still not a prob! Although I can't say I had a good reading week. It was my first week of working again and I only did 3 days due to the holidays, and the holidays were another factor in messing with my reading schedule. Oh well.

This week I got my prize from the Haunted Halloween Contest run by A Life Bound By Books and Confessions of a Bookaholic, a set of bookmarks designed and signed by authors!

Then I bought for myself:

Bad Blood by Kristen Painter

Then in a contest I won awhile back I got:

Hollowland by Amanda Hocking--and it's SIGNED!!

And that was my mailbox this week! What did you get?

DARK DESCENDANT by Jenna Black

Freaking awesome! Love Greek mythology!

DARKNESS BECOMES HER by Kelly Keaton

Another awesome debut with Greek mythology in the story!!

Okay, so I'm "cheating" here, and picking both of Shannon's books that published this year in her 13 to Life series! I LOOOOOOVE this series as you all know, so if listing both here is cheating, well then...:P

This week's question is: It’s Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. so we want to know what you are Thankful for – blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading?

MY ANSWER: Well definitely Livia from Butterfly-O-Meter Books!! She helped me finally get a blog button since I've never had one!! Thanks again Livia!

Let's see...probably Jess at The Cozy Reader, she's helped me with some other technical issues at some point in time!

There are other bloggers too, really any and everyone I follow and follows in return I'm grateful for! There have been other blogging friends who convinced me to read certain books and I ended up totally loving them! So gotta have thanks there!

So thank you blogging friends!!

Now as for books...since somehow I missed that part a few minutes ago, that list is too long! But of course I'm super thankful for....you guessed it! The 13 to Life series by Shannon Delany!! My fave YA series (one of them)!

Let's see I also adore Victoria Laurie's Ghost Hunter Mysteries!! So fun!

And Rachel Vincent's Shifter series was totally awesome even though it's ended!

And of course two long time faves from way back in the beginning of my reading days: Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series and Kim Harrison's The Hollows!

And this week I decided to get on the band wagon and try out TGIF at GReads!

TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.

So since I do a wrapup on Mondays, I'm gonna skip that part and just do the question!

This week's question is: When You're Not Reading: What occupies your time when your nose isn't stuck in a book?

MY ANSWER: You mean there's life beyond reading?! Ha ha! Kidding! I do stuff with my family a lot! Hanging out or just running errands! Try to work on my own writing, but that's been pretty slow lately. Haven't been too motivated what with all my rejections from querying, but gonna get back to working on that again eventually! I know the drill, gotta write stuff to send stuff to people and keep sending, it only takes one yes...yadda yadda yadda! ;)

I like watching movies and some TV shows. Do a lot of DVRs! No commercials!! And today I am going shopping! Not going for the awesome deals that people go nutso over, but still leisurely shopping since I got most of my shopping list completed!

Random Thursday

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

So today I feel like rambling about a few traditions our family has. Nothing truly spectacular!

One thing I like about Thanksgiving, really is the following day...Black Friday! Yes, it's the most dreadful day to shop, but really that's when they're amazing deals! Vampire Diaries season 2, up for $12.00 at Target or $10--I think unless it was $10.99, at Walmart! Normally these things are like $60!

So on this dreadful weekend I try to buy my mom her faves and she tries to get mine! Yeah, nothing really great about that, but I loooooove a good deal, and Black Friday has LOTS of them!

Of course I'm not one of the determined people that camps out. Heck I'm too late for that! Someone in Florida was camped out Monday!! And some people are camping out in my area, at least that's what the news said! I'm not one of those! But I do like to get to the store early. Of course I miss the days when stores opened up like an hour before their normal time. Now it's like 9pm at Toys R Us or 10pm at Walmart! Others open at midnight too! It's insane! I do like to sleep, but if I have to go to get my deals and save some cash, I likely will. I don't mind waiting in lines. I'll be sure to bring my book! ;)

Another more Thanksgiving-like tradition is that I try to find a new dessert for us to try at dinner. This year I'm going with this Mile-High Peanut Butter Pie! Something like that! And my desserts do tend to lean towards the peanut butter and chocolate, because after all Reese's peanut butter cups are the BEST!!

Doesn't it look good?! Yum!

So what are your plans for tomorrow? Do you have any traditions?

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

My fave balloon! ;)

Griffin Shaw used to be a PI, but that was over fifty years ago when gumshoes hoofed the streets . . . and he was still alive. Now he’s a Centurion, an angel who assists other murdered souls through their journey to the afterlife. But while Shaw might be an angel … he’s no saint. Haunted by the mysterious events surrounding his own death, he seizes a chance to wreak some vengeance when he witnesses a deadly attack on journalist Katherine “Kit” Craig.

Joining forces, the unlikely avengers take to the streets, hunting a killer whose trail of bodies stretches across Las Vegas and into an immortal netherworld. It is a dangerous trek that lead them into the darkest corners of Sin City and into the heart of an evil conspiracy extending beyond the lights of the Strip that could destory them both.

But destruction isn’t the only threat Griffin faces. The closer he gets to Kit, the more he finds himself bewitched by her mortal charms. Can he resist falling under her spell? And does he want to?

So looking forward to this one!! Ever since Vicki finished her Zodiac series I've been looking forward to it!

Also according to Amazon at least, it looks like it might be a trade paperback.

Waiting on Wednesday

I hate waiting...
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

Need to reorganize my 2012 book list I've been compiling these past few months!! So can't wait for all the spectacular reads that will come out then!

The homicide beat in Louisiana isn't just terrifying, it's demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord. And now, people who've hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no apparent reason. To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she's in a race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take her to hell and back.

Loooove this series!! Kara is totally awesome, normal in some ways, yet she's very skilled in summoning demons! Especially the king of them! So can't wait to read this one!

High school can be a battlefield, but for Lily Parker, surviving at St. Sophia’s School for Girls is a matter of life and death...

Protecting Chicago from the dark side can be an exhausting job, especially when you’re a junior. So when the girls of St. Sophia’s start gearing up for Sneak, their fall formal, Lily decides to join in on some good, old-fashioned party prep—even if it means not giving demons, vampires and the twisted magic users known as Reapers her undivided attention.

But when a Reaper infiltrates the school, Lily doesn’t forget what she’s sworn to protect. She reaches deep into herself to draw out her magic—and finds that it’s gone. And it turns out she’s not alone. A magical blackout has slammed through paranormal Chicago, and no one knows what—or who—caused it. But Lily knows getting back her magic is worth the risk of going behind enemy lines...

Love this series as well! But with these two picks, they only release 1 a year for the series, so it's hard for me to remember right now what all was going on! Of course once I get reading things come back to me! But love Chloe's books and her YA one is just as awesome as her adult one!

Review--Flesh and Blood by Kristen Painter

Those born into the comarré life produced blood in rich, pure, powerful abundance...

With the Ring of Sorrows still missing, and the covenant between othernaturals and mortals broken, Chrysabelle and Malkolm’s problems are just beginning. Chrysabelle still owes Malkolm for his help, but fulfilling that debt means returning to Corvinestri, the hidden vampire city where neither is welcome.

It's been months since I read Blood Rights by Kristen Painter, the first in her new House of Comarre series, so it took me a bit to remember what's what in Flesh and Blood. But it wasn't long before I was totally sucked in!

We have a new guy on the block, Creek, who's very mystery and apart of the KM. But that's only the beginning, there's still lots of problems going on and Chrysabelle and Malkolm are still getting back on their feet. Plus Tatiana is still hot on their trail, wanting the ring of sorrows.

There's so much that happens in this book since it's told in multiple third person p.o.v.'s, and yet it's not nearly as chaotic as I might be making it sound! Really if you've read books with multiple third person p.o.v.'s then you know what to expect. There's just so much, it's hard to pinpoint the highlights! And just as you get sucked into one p.o.v. you get sucked into another!

The ending was pretty heart pounding too! So many things were happening, each event as serious and important as the last! Such as Chrysabelle trying to help Mal rid himself of his curse. And there are some shocking developments throughout the book! One was pretty huge that happened fairly early on! Oddly enough, it didn't have a huge placement in the book though, perhaps in the next one.

Also there were a few cliffhangers at the end. Things happened that were just like wow! So naturally at the very end you're left wondering what the hell will happen next! Not in any real agonizing way though. Nothing totally torturous! And since the next book comes out tomorrow, there's really no killer wait for me! Yet I will be moving on to other reads before I get to that one!

Overall rating 4/5 stars
