ARC Review--Pure by Jennifer Armentrout

There is need. And then there is Fate...

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

Jennifer Armentrout's followup, Pure was an extraordinary read! I wasn't sure how the book would go when Half-Blood was just awesome, but it lives up to its predecessor!

Alex has a lot on her plate. She's in love with a pure--the total forbidden love--and yet she's bound to another, Seth. Life just couldn't get any worse. Yet it does. There are more demon attacks occurring and lives are in danger. And more importantly Alex is due to be questioned in front of the Council soon and the results will be life changing.

There's definitely a lot of romantic tension going on in this book! We have Alex trying to move past her feelings for Adrian, yet that is easier said than done. Especially since he treats her so kindly and is just the prefect boyfriend material. Then there's Seth. I didn't think I would like him so much since he wasn't my fave last time around, but we get to see a whole other side to him this time around. We see a lot of him actually. Since Alex is going to be the second Apollyon, she and Seth have a special connection, one Alex tries to ignore, yet when she is forced to work alongside Seth in her training she sees this other side to him.

The action was rather well paced! When there wasn't direly exciting moments, the emotions were running high and things were tense! Things were well balanced! And there are definitely some secrets that get dropped. I have a few theories developing but will have to wait til the next installment. And there are some ultimately earth-shattering surprises that happen!
It was just a totally exciting and engaging read! I so can't wait for Deity!

Overall rating 4.5/5 stars
