This week's question is: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

MY ANSWER: A toss up between Twilight and The Hunger Games. I've read the Twilight series, no idea why. But now I am sick and tired of hearing about it. Also The Hunger Games, the storyline just didn't really impress me and yet now I am tired of hearing about it. Both of these are really due to the fact that there are also movies out on their series as well.

Also please note that this is just my opinion on them. I don't begrudge anyone who enjoys the books or movies. They were just not for me.

  2. I'm sorry, but I loved Twilight and still do. As for the Hunger Games - I have yet to start the series. However, after having read your comment and several others like it, I'm no longer sure if I should bother.

  3. I'm a fan of both so unfortunately I can't agree with you but that's the beauty of reading everybody has their own likes and dislikes and just because you like something doesn't mean someone else will, thanks for stopping by.

  4. Old follower! Yes yes yes on Twilight! I thought HG was great, it had a great pacing and was suspenseful at every turn. But that's me. :D It's great to see everyone else's opinion on really popular books!

  5. I haven't gotten around to the Hunger Games trio yet, still missing the first book. Seriously, it went to my sister-in-laws house with the second one and the second one came back with the third one, lol. Maybe it morphed itself. :p

As far as Twilight though I liked it. It wasn't the best thing ever since Sticky Toffee Puddin ice cream but it was decent enough to entertain me when I needed it. Sure as heck impressed my (then) 15 year old cousin when he saw that I read Breaking Dawn in a day. :)

-- and I'm already following your awesomeness, as you know. :D

  7. I had the same thing with Twilight, for some unimaginable reason I read it and then the movie came out and by the 2nd movie I got so tired of it. That's one of the reasons I didn't read The Hunger Games! Thanks for sharing :) I'm an old follower!

  14. Although I enjoyed reading both series I definitely see your point Jessica. I am also getting a bit tired of the continuous (and dragged out) hype surrounding the spin-offs (movies etc) for both series.

Have a great Friday! Old Follower. :)

  15. Good choice. I don't care for either and highly doubt i'll ever read them

  18. Aww... C'mon Jessica, These books are GREAT (lol)

No but really, I actually like them both. I DO tire of hearing about Twilight though, and the movies really suck! But I did like the books.

And I like The Hunger Games a ton, but thats probably because it was the first dystopian series I ever read (except 1984- but when I read that, i didnt know anything about dystopians or anything... haha)!! And now I LOOOOVE dystopian novels!!!

  23. I think the problem with both those series is just fatigue -- it's like a song on the radio that's been played to death. They were cool the first time through, but I agree that it's time to take a break.

  25. Yes!! Twilight is kind of going down, but The Hunger Games !! I mean.. I read the first book and it was alright but I don't see why it's so popular D:

Thanks for stopping by my FF, I'm an old follower. (:

  26. Thanks for the follow, followed back. Enclave got some good reviews out there, it just wasn't for me.

  27. For me I think the movie thing ruined these. and just the overall hype around them. I actually read and enjoyed them both before they were hyped up, so I guess I went into them w/o any high expectations. Now that I have really high expectations about these books I just don't think I'd enjoy them as much.

  28. Sorry you didn't like Hunger Games, and I know what you mean about Twilight. I enjoyed the books way back when, but there's so much hype about it now that it's just annoying. Plus I think Kristin Stewart ruined it. >.>

If you haven't read Sweet Evil, you should still try it - I personally hated it, but I think I was one of the few in the 1% of the population that did! Who knows, you may end up loving it as much as everybody else. Thanks for stopping by!

  29. Bad, Jessica, Bad! ;) I loved both of these!!!! Not so much the end of the twilight series, and now I really am tired of hearing about it, too! But Hunger Games? I mean, it's just, it's . . . THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!!! I was completely blown away by this series!

  32. Hey

Thnx for stoppin by my FF.
I kinda understand why you feel that way about these books. I have read twilight to, thought they were oke, but somehow now with all the hyping and movies and people screaming those books are sooo good I am kinde turned off by them. Just because I know there are better books out there, And to be honest, I only read the first 10 chapters of the hungergames Still need to read the rest, someday ;)

  33. I've seen these two books a lot! I enjoyed both of them but I do agree that they didn't really deserve all the hype it got. Old follower, thanks for stopping by my blog :)

  34. Both are incredibly over hyped, but I liked them anyway. You just expect them to be soo much more epic when there's so much talk about them, don't you?

    Thanks for your visit :)

  35. Is it just me or 1. I thought Divergent was way better than The Hunger Games & 2. Mockingjay had the worst ending for a YA trilogy yet to date! I swear I just don't understand it at all. I completely agree with you 100%.

  37. I really enjoyed the Hunger Games, but towards the time the movie came out, I do think it got a bit over-hyped.

  38. Hi,
Both of those series are so over hyped its almost guaranteed that they won't live up to it all.
