Mini Review--Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.

Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.

Even if it means making war against the gods.

I found myself bored last night and didn't really want to start a full novel just yet, so I decided to read one of the many novellas in my TBR mountain! Elixir was my top choice! I loooooove Jennifer L. Armentrout's books! And Elixir, a mere novella was simply beautiful!

Apparently, it's important to read this one before Apollyon and if I recall correctly, Jennifer says that this one is going to be in with Apollyon so readers can read it first.

In this one as we know from Deity, Alex has been awakened, but it's not a good thing. It means Seth can control her now...or she him if she were able. But her mind has been changed and not for the better. She is raging and picking fights with Aiden and had to be locked up for her protection. Apollo's conclusion is that Alex must take the Elixir, the one that servants take when they are given to masters, for it will buy them time to find a permanent cure and keep Seth away from her. It makes them docile and obedient. Aiden didn't want to do that to Alex, but after much convincing from the others and seeing Alex slipping further away from him, he agrees.

The new Alex, or Alexandria is nothing like the Alex we know and love. She's quiet, meek and frightened it seems and Aiden is her new master. Something Aiden wasn't too thrilled with. But as he spends time with her, he is reminded all over again why he loves her. And he even begins to see parts of the old Alex in this new Alexandria.

For a quick read, it was still enjoyable! Hoping that I can remember everything by the time I get Apollyon! The ending was pretty surprising as Aiden makes a few decisions that will likely be the catalyst for what we see in Apollyon!

So if you're already in love with this series, I highly recommend reading this one!

Overall rating 4.5/5 stars--only wished there was more!
