Cover Copy Reveal--The Shadow Prince

Hey all! Did you see the NEW cover design for Bree Despain's The Shadow Prince! It got tweaked a bit:

Haden Lord, the disgraced prince of the Underrealm, has been sent to the mortal world to entice a girl into returning with him to the land of the dead. Posing as a student at Olympus Hills High—a haven for children of the rich and famous—Haden must single out the one girl rumored to be able to restore immortality to his race.

Daphne Raines has dreams much bigger than her tiny southern Utah town, so when her rock star dad suddenly reappears, offering her full tuition to Olympus Hills High’s prestigious music program, she sees an opportunity to catch the break she needs to make it as a singer. But upon moving into her estranged father’s mansion in California, and attending her glamorous new school, Daphne soon realizes she isn’t the only student in Olympus who doesn’t quite belong.

Haden and Daphne—destined for each other—know nothing of the true stakes their fated courtship entails. As war between the gods brews, the teenagers’ lives collide. But Daphne won’t be wooed easily and when it seems their prophesied link could happen, Haden realizes something he never intended—he’s fallen in love. Now to save themselves, Haden and Daphne must rewrite their destinies. But as their destinies change, so do the fates of both their worlds.

And here's the old cover, just in case you were wondering about the changes and differences:

Bree said on her blog, the changes were made because:

Why the new cover? Two reasons: 1. The title treatment of the old cover was too confusing. Nobody was sure if the title of the book was supposed to be "Into the Dark" or "The Shadow Prince." I think the new title treatment makes it pretty clear--and it's pretty awesome. Definitely my favorite part of the new design.  2. If someone (or a few someones) with a whole lot of clout in the book-selling biz says that they don't think your cover is quite right (and you have a smart publisher) you get a new cover design.

And that I can totally agree with. I wasn't sure at first if the book was called Into The Dark or The Shadow Prince! And here's today special teaser post as well!

Still, The Shadow Prince releases March 11, 2014

  1. I totally thought it was Into the Dark too. The bigger the text, that's the main focus, which the title is suppose to be the big text, so that's what I thought.
