Mini Review--Night's Deep Hush by Erin Kellison

Dreaming turns dangerous...

Malcolm Rook and Jordan Lane are on the run from powerful forces that seek their deaths. But they are discovered by someone from Rook's dark past. Under no circumstances will Rook allow this criminal to learn how talented Jordan is in the world Darkside. Instead, Rook succumbs so that she has a chance to survive.

Rook has been abducted and Jordan assumes the worst. She's fallen for him and will do anything to get him back. Alone on the streets, she concocts a plan that will take her into the black market of dreams to find help. An unlikely ally comes to her aid, and together they search and fight...one for love, the other for vengeance.

Night's Deep Hush is the fourth installment in the Reveler serial, a hot paranormal romance set in a world where shared dreaming is a new pop culture phenomenon that allows people to indulge their wildest fantasies. But there are also unknown dangers Darkside; nightmares are slowly infiltrating not only dreams, but the waking world as well.

Revel with me.

I received this ebook from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

Night's Deep Hush continues Erin Kellison's Reveler series where dreaming isn't all that it's cracked up to be. In fact, it can be pretty dangerous. While each of these novels starred different characters and can stand alone, they do contain an overall story arc that gets continued throughout. And since they are novellas, they make for fast reads, so getting caught up is really no trouble at all to the avid reader!

We finally return to Rook and Jordan. They are our center stage stars in this one. Rook is accosted by an old "acquaintance" who acts as a messenger to deliver a job opportunity to Rook. One that he cannot refuse, as in, he's forced into the situation. But as it involves a missing child, Rook finds himself weakened and does the job.

In the meantime, Jordan is going frantic at trying to find him and eventually accepts the help of Vince who's striving to make amends with her. Vince has changed greatly since Jordan drowned him. Really "changing" is the best way to describe it without getting too spoilery! Vince wants revenge on Lambert for killing his father and basically making life hell for him.

Naturally, things get a little more complicated than to be expected. The ending kind of leaves you hanging a bit. As we don't know what's happened to everyone. Our current heroes, Jordan and Rook, we know where they're at least.

The Reveler series is one of my favorites now! It's so fast paced and intense and I love getting to know all these different characters! I have my guesses as to who might star in the fifth book next month and I cannot wait to read it! I highly recommend this series to all fans of Dark Urban Fantasy, for while this may be a contemporary setting and missing the paranormal creatures, there's just enough "weirdness" in it to keep any fan of the genre hooked!

Overall Rating 4.5/5 stars

  1. Hmm... I haven't read anything in this series, but this seems kind of similar to Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dream Hunter series. Have you read it? It seems pretty good so maybe I'll give it a try! Thanks for the review!
