Midyear Book Freak Out Tag!

I can't believe we're already halfway through this year! It's insane! I don't feel like time has gone by all that fast, but at the same time I'm thinking, how is it July already?! Lol! Guess because I am counting down the days to my Disney World trip!! As of today it's 99 days and counting!! 2 digits!!!

I remember different midyear tags over the years but I saw this one at Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My! and thought it looked like fun! I've borrowed the image that she borrowed from Barb @ Booker T's Farm for this. Like Stormi, I don't know who originally created this particular tag either.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018

So very hard since out of the 73 books I've read (a few comics are in there too) the majority of them were 5 stars! But I will try to keep my answers to one!

Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2018

I went with an actual sequel for this one! I really loved how surprising this one was!

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

I feel like I am always behind with these two! I'm always behind in the ACOWAR series and always behind on JLA's books because she writes soooo fast! Lol!

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
Moonlight Seduction by Jennifer L. Armentrout

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning
Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

5. Biggest disappointment

While this one is from the latter half of the year, I can say that while I liked it, it wasn't what I was expecting. "Biggest disappointment" is a stretch because it was still enjoyable but not what I thought it would be.

Girl at the Grave by Teri Bailey Black

6. Biggest surprise

This was definitely the biggest surprise of the first half of the year! I quite enjoyed this one! It's definitely a different kind of story and won't be for everyone but I found I really enjoyed it!

Beast: A Tale of Love and Revenge by Lisa Jensen

7. Favorite new author (Debut or new to you)

Picking a debut for this one! This was a most marvelous retelling of The Little Mermaid! I really enjoyed this one and will be keeping an eye out for Alexandra's books in the future!

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

8. Newest fictional crush

Is it any surprise that my top 2 new crushes are both JLA guys? Luc isn't a new guy of course, but I have to say I like this older version of him! And Lucian--ironic no?--was to die for!! I can't wait to meet the rest of his brothers!

The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Luc)
Moonlight Sins by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lucian)

9. Newest favorite character

Again, I choose a character who's not so "new" but she was new in a sense that this was her story! Tella from Legendary was an amazing character! I can't decide if I like her just a tad more than her sister Scarlett! Then there was Luna from Reign of Shadows who I just loved! She was basically our Rapunzel in this retelling and was pretty badass! Much like the Rapunzel I love from Tangled!

Legendary by Stephanie Garber (Tella)
Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan (Luna)

10. Book that made you cry (Saddest book you have read)

One of my latest reads, Tiger's Dream had me getting weepy-eyed since this is the finale. It was so sad in so many ways! Yet I still loved it!

Tiger's Dream by Colleen Houck

11. Book that made you happy

Pretty much every book ever! Like 95% of the time at least! Lol!

One that was a great start to what's sure to be an amazing series and another that was an incredible finale to an amazing series!

The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year

Honestly, I couldn't tell you the last time I went to the movie theater! Lol! The prices were getting ridiculous so I've pretty much been waiting for the movies to come to Netflix...or Red Box if I am really wanting to see one!

13. Favorite review you’ve written this year

Uh...I don't know...I don't really favorite my reviews I guess! Lol!

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year

I still need to read this one ironically! Lol! I love a good fairy tale retelling and since it was Beauty and the Beast I knew I had to buy it! So I did. Still gotta read it though!

The Beast's Heart by Leife Shallcross

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Well, there's quite a few I am still itching to read but haven't gotten to. Review books get in the way sometimes, but then those books are ones I want to read too, so it's basically a never-ending cycle! Lol.

These stacks--so far, there are a few more that will be released along the way that I will need to add to it--are ones I need to read before The Origin Event! These are authors there that I will be excited to meet and want to read their books, although Wendy Higgins' and Jennifer's Titan series might be a lower priority just because they are all already signed, but I am still going to attempt to read these before November!

If anyone wants to join along in this midyear tag consider yourself tagged!

And because it was discussion-y I'm counting this in my challenge as well!
