For fans of Twisted Tales and Villains is a brand new YA series that retells the classic Disney stories you thought you knew from the Disney Princes' perspectives.

Before Prince Eric’s mother, the Queen of Vellona, went missing two years ago, she reminded him about the details of the deadly curse that has plagued his entire life. The curse? If he were to kiss someone other than his true love, he would die. With a neighboring kingdom looking for any excuse to invade their shores, and rumors of ghost pirates lurking the seas, Eric is desperate for any information that may help him break his enchantment and bring stability to Vellona. The answers he has been searching for come to him in the form of a letter left from his mother that reveals Eric must find his true love, the one with a voice pure of heart,or kill the sea witch responsible for cursing him in the first place.

Now Eric is on a quest to find the Isle of Serein, the witch's legendary home. But after he is rescued by a mysterious young woman with a mesmerizing singing voice, Eric’s heart becomes torn. Does he enter a battle he is almost certain he cannot win or chase a love that might not even exist? And when a shipwrecked young woman with flaming red hair and a smile that could calm the seven seas enters his life, Eric may discover that true love isn’t something that can be decided by magic.

I received this book from the publisher via Rockstar Book Tours in exchange for an honest and voluntary review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Growing up on Disney movies, we've all lived the stories through the princesses' eyes, but what about the princes? This new Disney series is about to dive into that very side of the story and to begin the series we have Linsey Miller's Prince of Song & Sea. This is the story of Prince Eric and what his life was like leading up to his "meeting" Ariel. It's quite the story and I found it to be very enjoyable!

Ever since he was young, Eric knew that he was cursed. His mother, the queen, was cursed before him having helped a dying child that was meant for a sea goddess' sacrifice, and now it has passed onto Eric that if he were to kiss anyone who was not his one true love, he would die. So it makes trying to find love a little harder than usual.

Eric was out trying to find a way to end his curse when his ship is overtaken by pirates, but instead of a takeover, he makes a deal with them He'll help them solve the mystery of the Blood Tide, a ghost like entity that is making pirates/sailors alike drown. But before Eric can get too far into his search, his ship is sunk in a storm and the last thing he remembers his getting his dog, Max, to safety before the water pulled him under. Then he awakens to the most beautiful voice, but before he can fully wake up, she is gone.

And thus the story we all know well and true begins! I honestly loved reading this book! It was so fun to be in Eric's point of view for the majority of the story we know from The Little Mermaid movie. I mean, it gives new knowledge to why he never tried to kiss Ariel right away like most princes were set on doing back in those days! But it was just kind of cute seeing everything play out the same way, and every once in awhile Eric would wonder if he just saw a blue and yellow fish dart by!

Things get back on their different course when Eric sets out to find a mysterious island where the so-called ghosts seem to be drawn to. Unbeknownst to him, Ariel sneaked onboard the ship--and if you recall, she has no voice during this time--to help him with his quest, whatever it might be. I really enjoyed watching Ariel and Eric grow closer in these moments that we didn't see in the movie. It was endearing to see Eric help Ariel communicate without her voice and it just shows what a true prince he is!

It's not long before Eric realizes a witch is behind his family's curse...a very familiar witch. And then the story jumps back on course to the movie plot line and we see things continue to play out the way they did. It was also very interesting to get Eric's insight when he was with Vanessa. I mean we thought he was just hypnotized but he had some thoughts going through his head and Ursula was up to more than just trying to prevent Ariel from getting her true love's kiss!

This is definitely another kind of series that is meant for the true Disney fan at heart! This book had it all! It gives new insight to a beloved movie, it has all the classic moments there to be seen, and there's some newness added to the mix as well. I'm rather excited to see what other Princes will be getting their own books! This series is bound to take off for who doesn't love an added Disney tale to the mix.

I love how this story gave more depth to Eric's character! If the rest of the series plans to do this, then all Disney fans are going to want to read this! I love seeing the princes as more complex as so many of the early ones were just there to rescue the princess and the end! This is going to be a fun series and I want to be here for all of it! This is a series Disney fans will want to grab at as soon as possible! It's new, it's familiar, it's magical...this is a read not to be missed!
