This week's question is: Do you believe the education system needs to change its approach to teaching reading and literature to students? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

MY ANSWER: I honestly don't know. I don't have children nor am I a teacher. My sister is a teacher currently teaching 4th & 5th graders I believe--she was last year, I don't think they've moved her this year. I know she tries to get her kids to read more, but not everyone is as excited to read because it's not technology. Sadly we are in a time of technology being what kids want to do. Like literally. My oldest niece is constantly glued to her phone. It's sad. Really, really sad.

So I don't really know what all school systems are doing with reading and literature. I definitely feel like it still needs to be taught. I mean reading is important, even if it's not for fun. You need to know how to read. And knowing our "beginning" stories is good too. With all the movies and TV shows that do redos or retellings, it would be almost beneficial to let kids see where Hollywood got their brief ideas from.

Not sure if I am answering the question really, I don't know the way the schools are teaching these things. I think they ought to still teach them but maybe in a way that will stick with kids and make them more interested in it.
