When a powerful witch discovers she's the daughter of an Alpha werewolf and is taken by his Pack, she's determined to break free all the while denying her attraction to her abductor. Witch of the Wolves is perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash.
Cordelia Levine comes from a long line of powerful witches. She's been flying under the radar in the human world, focused on strengthening her magic. She loves working at her aunt's apothecary in London, secretly serving supernaturals.
Until the truth about her family is revealed.
She always assumed her enhanced sense of smell came from her French perfumer father. But when Bishop Daniels abducts Cordelia at the request of her father, the Alpha, Cordelia learns she's a lycan--sharing both witch and werewolf traits. She's brought to Trevelyan, the pack estate, under the guise of protection from foreign threats who want to use her to continue their bloodline.
She quickly learns that to keep her from being sold off to another pack, her father intends to give Cordelia as a mate to Bishop. His second in command and the future Alpha.
Cordelia refuses to accept this as her fate. She can't rely on her magic alone to escape and when she learns Bishop plans to challenge her father's power, she reluctantly begins to trust him. The cracks within the Pack become evident and something is bound to break. And Cordelia and her growing desire for the man who shouldn't set her on fire are right at the center of it all.
Witch of the Wolves is the first book in this Victorian romantasy series, featuring an intense and sexy romance and a world on the brink of change.
I had been itching to read Kaylee Archer's Witch of the Wolves ever since I saw the cover, noticed the title, and read the blurb! It was love at first read and yet I am only now getting to it! But that means my wait to the sequel is one month shorter! Lol. If you love a good Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance blend set in a historical time setting, prepare to be blown away!
Cordelia is a witch and has always kept it a secret from her human friends. She was raised by her aunt after her mother died as a child and life has been pleasant for the most part. Then one day, all that changes as she's being kidnapped by a werewolf, Bishop, in order to meet her werewolf father that she never knew. Her life is apparently in danger for her being Silas' daughter and in order to keep her safe and her choices her own, she must stay with him and his pack for a little while until the danger has passed.
But naturally, nothing is as it seems. Cordelia learns just what kind of father she has and learns many things about her family of witches that only she thought she knew well. Her life goes into utter chaos to say the least. Then there's Bishop, the werewolf who kidnapped her and is her father's righthand man and the one set to take over the pack some day in the future. The chemistry between them is downright fizzling! It never really came off as a Stockholm thing with the woman falling for her kidnapper, though yes, that is what happens. He was merely following his alpha's orders and didn't want to kidnap her per se, but yeah, that explanation gets a little messy!
This book was just so, so good! It was incredible amazing! I can't remember the last time I had so much fun with a paranormal read! It reminded me of quite a few past reads blending that historical setting and paranormal population. It was just so much fun!
Cordelia is a fierce heroine as well. She's a witch, yes, but has always been an independent sort as well. She's not the docile sort you would expect from this century. She's a vivacious, young woman and doesn't always follow society's norms and I just loved her spirit! She's a heroine definitely worth rooting for! Then you have Bishop, who's quite the character as well. Despite the kidnapping, he's really quite the gentleman with a heart of gold and I sooo cannot wait to see how their relationship will develop.
Needless to say that Witch of the Wolves was everything I was hoping it would be and more! It's was an exciting fast-paced read that kept me guessing with its twists and turns. The action was well paced with just enough intrigue happening as well, and of course the romance developing in the background! I would love for the sequel to be out already because I think I just found my new favorite paranormal series! If you've been missing the genre like I have, be sure to add Witch of the Wolves to your reading queues stat (if you haven't already) because this is a read bewitch and charm you with its incredible amazingness!
Overall Rating 5/5 stars
