This week's question is: Being thankful and
reflecting are common themes throughout November. Can you suggest a book
that you've found inspiring and that tackles themes of appreciation,
thanksgiving, or personal growth? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
MY ANSWER: Well, honestly, I cannot think of one that would have themes of appreciation, thanksgiving, or personal growth. But I will say a book I am super thankful for and appreciate a ton a ton! Yes, a ton a ton! And that is Legendary by Stephanie Garber!
Yes, I know you're probably thinking why didn't I choose Caraval? Well, I'm thankful for the whole series and world really! But Legendary spoke to me! I loved Tella's story. I felt a great connection with Tella and I admired her strength and loved her journey throughout her story.
Another book I will mention being super super thankful for is Marianne Curley's Old Magic.
At the time of reading this book as a young preteen I felt another deep connection with the heroine! She was a bit of an outsider, and a witch at that. I related to the former, wished for the latter though, lol! I was sooo thankful for this book as it was one of the first books I read where the heroine wasn't Ms. Popular. Prior to that I was reading contemporaries that always seemed to have the It Girl or just one who had a great circle of friends whereas Kate, here, had one and was an outsider. But she was still a powerful young woman coming into her own and, ah, I just loved seeing her become strong enough to help take down an evil sorcerer! Lol.
