Let's Discuss: Toothpaste

So as I was writing my Monday Wrap-up post, a commercial came on and I thought...why not make that a discussion because it spurred a mini rant in my head! Lol.

Toothpaste

So yup, I saw a toothpaste commercial. For Crest and that is the one brand of toothpaste I can't stand! Lol. I don't know what it is, I guess the taste? I mean, I guess I can derive a psychological reason as to why I can't stand the taste of it, but that's a post for another time! Lol. Of course though my dentist always gives me a little Crest sample after visits, so depending on whatever kind of trip I take, I may or may not just bring that along despite my dislike of it! If it's a longer trip I just bring my big tube of toothpaste, if it's for the weekend or such, I'll bring one of those things.

My toothpaste of choice tends to be Aquafresh! Or at least that's where I've settled for the last few years. The mint isn't too intense and leaves my breath feeling fresh. But I did use to use Colgate, I think I switched over mostly because I kept finding Aquafresh coupons in the paper. Because yes, I am a coupon person when I get them!

What tends to be your toothpaste of choice? Do you go for just about anything or prefer one over the other? Do you avoid any brands for whatever reason?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It's a fun meme where we gather to share what we've read last week and our reading plans for this week.

Last Week I Read:

Well, nothing. I didn't finish the book I started. Always disappointed when I can't complete a book in the week, but to be fair I did drive all day Friday which sucked up reading time, then Saturday I was just exhausted since I didn't sleep well after said road trip, so no reading was done either.

Currently Reading:

The Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten

What I Plan to Read Next:

Evil Thing by Serena Valentino

Stacking the Shelves--Whoops Edition

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! The meme is now hosted by Reading Reality

Well it was another week. It was mostly blah, although as you might have noticed, Friday I drove to Memphis to meet Erin A. Craig! Since she was only 4 hours away and it was a Friday, I thought I could easily do this! It was a fun trip and though I didn't get any sleep when I got home, I would do it again! Yeah, not sure why I couldn't fall asleep. I just kept laying there resting my eyes, hoping to drift off and it never happened. As I write this now on Saturday evening, I am finally feeling it all creep up on me! I'm exhausted! Lol.

I didn't realize how many books I got this week either! Since Owl Crate finally went to Book Only I switched up my subscription and I had forgotten what the book pick was. Upon receiving it I was just like, eh. Might hold onto it for a little while. But anyway here's what I got:

House of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig--
standard edition signed!
House of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig--
B&N edition signed!
A Dream So Wicked by Tessonja Odette--
signed!
A Game of Gods by Scarlett St. Clair--
B&N edition
An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson--
funny story, I'd gotten this book mixed up with another author with the same initials who was published with Inkyard. Panicking thinking it would be hard to find said books anymore, I ordered this off Pangobooks. Then when I got it, I was like oh yeah...lol! I'd been meaning to get around to this one at some point as well, so no biggie! Lol.
The Iron Vow by Julie Kagawa--
Fairy Loot edition

Then I received my Fairy Loot YA book which I admit to being curious about, but the cover was a little meh this time around. Pretty edges though! Not sharing a picture since I hadn't seen it anywhere yet and didn't want to spoil it for anyone!

Then the new Owl Crate Book only Box came this week too! I must admit, I LOVE the new look! It's like what they did so very long ago on an Anniversary box but never repeated. Yes, it's like the special edition boxes now, but I love this color!

Again not sharing the book in case others haven't gotten it yet. I was a little meh on this one as previously mentioned but might hold onto it for awhile.

Then I won Ann Aguirre's latest book from her newsletter contest! It sounds like a cute and fun read with a heaping of paranormal magic! Plus I love purple! Lol!

The Only Purple House in Town by Ann Aguirre--just now realized this is apart of a series of hers I haven't read! Eep! Hoping it's not a continuous type of series!

THANK YOU Ann & Sourcebooks!

Then I also won the monthly contest for the 2023 Series Enders Reading Challenge for last month! I won an Amazon gift card!

THANK YOU Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know!

Then my latest doll purchase from Pages of the Night came in! When Britnee was having her Birthday Sale I decided to jump on it and get the Doll I had been eyeing...you can probably guess it if you saw her drop earlier this month! Lol.

Yes, I bought the new Butterfly Dress Tella! I couldn't help myself! I love my OG version of this Doll, but loved the details Britnee put into this one, so I bought her!

Then when I went out wallllk-inggg in Memphis (lol), I came across this Halloween Squishmallow and couldn't talk myself out of it! At least not yet. I gotta go see what Halloween ones I have in my storage unit to see if a return is actually necessary! But he was cute, so I snatched him up!

Then my last Funko Preorder came into Hot Topic this week! It's another Peter Pan one and I just loved this sort of "movie moment" of Tinker Bell in the lantern, so I had to buy her!

And that was it for me this week! It was pretty intense! What did you all get?

MIA

Hey all! Just popping in to say I will be MIA for the rest of the day! I will be back tomorrow, but any evening visiting that I usually do on Fridays will be postponed as I am driving to Memphis to meet Erin A. Craig and Hannah Whitten (again!)!

I haven't met Erin yet and when I saw she was only going to be a 4 hour away drive from me on a Friday, I thought I can do this! I get off early on Fridays. So yes, by the time you're reading this, I will be on the road! I will see you all sometime tomorrow whenever I wake up as I am definitely sleeping in after I come home after this event!

If you happen to be attending this tour stop give me a shoutout on Instagram, Threads, or Twitter tagging me @agreatreader! Would love to meet up and say hey!

This week's question is: Do you enjoy reading memoirs? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer

MY ANSWER: Not really. I'm not much of a nonfiction reader. I will admit that I do have at least 2 sort of autobiographies/behind the scenes of THIS movie kind of books. Plus a few Disney "history" books as well. But no actual "memoirs."

Books from the Backlog #41

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. This meme is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books!

In her third book about the delightful Woodcutter sisters, Alethea Kontis masterfully weaves "The Wild Swans," "The Goose Girl," and a few other fine-feathered fairy tales into a magical, romantic companion novel to Enchanted and Hero.

Readers met the Woodcutter sisters (named after the days of the week) in Enchanted and Hero. In this delightful third book, Alethea Kontis weaves together some fine-feathered fairy tales to focus on Friday Woodcutter, the kind and loving seamstress. When Friday stumbles upon seven sleeping brothers in her sister Sunday's palace, she takes one look at Tristan and knows he's her future. But the brothers are cursed to be swans by day. Can Friday's unique magic somehow break the spell?

I added Dearest by Althea Kontis to my TBR in December of 2014! It was a fun fantasy series that sadly didn't get enough love as it was canceled after 3 books. It was basically going to be 7 stories about 7 sisters, with each book focusing on one sister. The girls were named for the days of the week and each story was kind of inspired by fairy tales. It may have started out like retellings and may even still be, but it's been so long I can't quite remember! They were fantastic though and magical and I know Althea was self-publishing some books in this world that I have as well, I just need to circle back to them!
