Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! The meme is now hosted by Reading Reality.
Another week has come and gone. And my copy of Spectacular has been deemed lost. I am gutted. Absolutely gutted. I had Blackwell's send another one out and hopefully the first print run is still going, I usually hear otherwise when it's up. I'm hoping because it's a novella the allure wasn't as strong so I can hopefully get one more hidden cover. Yes, I technically have all 4 but I had 3 Waterstones and 1 Standard, my OCD is demanding 2 & 2. So here's hoping I don't get a duplicate of the one Standard I already have! Lol. So yes, it's going to be another stressful three weeks--pending that I get it in the 10-15 business days. My trip to the city PO was fruitless as they didn't have it and they told me a completely different PO was said to have it last, which is the one the first postal worker told me had it, but the second and latest one I talked to was all "oh, no. It's at this location." I knew I should not have trusted that Grumpy Gus! He was a grumpy sort that's for sure! I wish I had Friendly Fred helping me that second time around. Lol. But the highlight of my week though was Wednesday night when I got to meet Carissa Broadbent! It was a very packed signing as 200+ showed up! Luckily I was early enough to be in group 1 for that one, but then I took the next two days off as I still got home pretty late, plus I have days to burn or lose! I'll now be obsessively checking my email for tracking and then obsessively checking the tracking for when it hits the dead zone where my mail goes to hide or die! (and yes, I realize that last comment was a bit of a derailment from the previous one, I'm a bit scattered-brain over this loss!)
Here's what did come successfully in the mail--and by that I mean this sorting center didn't just shove it aside somewhere to be forgotten with the rest of the mail crate where my lost book resides. Yes, I am still a bit bitter and hurt over this and likely will be as USPS did the UNTHINKABLE...losing a precious international Stephanie Garber book!
a SIGNED bookplate
a character card
And that was it for me this week! Much sadness and tears--seriously, the only reason I didn't end up baking away my sorrows was because Thanksgiving is next week and there will be plenty of pie then--and now I'm filled with anxiety over whether my replacement copy will be a first print run. It just goes to show you that preordering is NOT a guaranteed way to get a hidden cover. :(
