Let's Discuss: Reading Essentials

 

I'm back with another topic to ramble about! Lol. Trying to make up for the few days at the beginning of the year where I was sick and didn't do anything but rest! So the next thing I started thinking about are reading essentials. What is essential to you when you read?

Reading Essentials

In this scope, I am thinking more about your reading environment and the things you need to happily and comfortably read! For me, when I read, I first enjoy a nice comfy spot! I usually just read in my bed until I can find the right house and gain the right comfy reading chair. Lol. I need my comfy pillows and usually a blanket and just settle in!

Next I need my reading pillow! I know I remember seeing some flock about Book Beau's reading pillows as they resemble nursing pillows for babies, but honestly, I love this little thing! It makes reading in bed so much easier and it props my book up very nice, especially when I am reading a 500+ one! Those bigger books definitely need the extra boost and it helps my wrists and arms greatly to have that support!

Next up, I need a bookmark! Yes, some have referred to them as quitter strips, but they are needed for those times I need to break for meals, look something up that I read that keeps nagging at me and I need my phone to research said thing, and other various reasons...like hearing the doorbell for a package delivery! Lol.

The other thing I always need is a notebook and pen! I take notes when I read to help me remember things for when it comes time to write my review. And if I happen to be reading a book in an ongoing series I will write out full plot details so I have as much of a summary recap as possible for when the next book comes out!

I feel like those are the main things I need! Obviously, other little things might pop up on occasion. But these are the things I cannot be without! Of course, the comfy reading spot doesn't always get to happen, especially on road trips or other occasions when I might not be in my full out reading mode but the rest I would very much want or need! But yeah, my phone has worked as a great backup to take notes in as I just email them to myself to put in my notebook for later if I happen to be out and left that behind.
