Let's Discuss: Reading in the Car

 

So I'm getting this idea a little early, as I was just writing up a quick MIA post, because next week I will be out of town on a family trip. Not so much a vacation, as I will still be working, just in a hotel, so you know, new venue! Lol! But anyway, since I was off the day we start our trip I figure I would read in the car as I won't be the driver, yay! And then it made me wonder...

Reading in the Car

Can you read in the car? I know my mom can't handle reading in the car as it makes her carsick. I can handle it pretty well under normal circumstances. I might have to take a break here or there if I get a little nauseated, but for the most part, I can tolerate reading in the car without getting carsick.

Are you able to read in the car? I don't know, I feel like it's almost a talent to be able to read in the car as I feel like a lot of people can get a little nauseated. Oddly, I sometimes find it harder to read on an airplane than in car. I guess maybe it's because I am usually traveling solo, and reading on a plane doesn't always let me focus on my whereabouts and the people around me. I'm overly cautious at times. I do still read on the plane for a little while but I guess I get more anxious on planes as well, depending where I sit, aisle or window...I try to be aware of my seat "neighbor" and if they need up or whatnot or if I need up, how busy are they with whatever they are doing? Also I tend to pick very early flights and the sun may not always be out so I don't want to use my reading light in case it bothers my seat "neighbors." I know, they are meant to be "personal" and not be shining on other people, but I always feel guilty if I want mine on and my "neighbors" want to sleep. And it would be my luck that I'll be reading a real book and not my kindle at that time! Lol.

But yeah, airplane reading is usually harder for me to do for the weirdest reasons, but car reading? Totally can handle under normal circumstances. Obviously, random headaches or random bouts of feeling nauseous can ruin my plans, but those are sporadic moments at best. Hopefully all will go well this time around and I can read to my heart's content for the return trip I will have to be working on my laptop. Boo.

What about you? Can you read in the car? Or planes? Or how about a train? Lol. I've never traveled by train myself so I can't speak for that mode.
