Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and The Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week's topic is: Top Ten Modern Books that are Classics to ME!

*in no particular order
**put a little spin on the topic as I'm not sure if there are any "new" books that I feel like would be the "new classic"

10. DEAD WITCH WALKING by Kim Harrison--a true Urban Fantasy classic! This was one of the first "adult" books I read in the paranormal genre when I got tired of waiting it out in YA! Lol.
9. THE AWAKENING by L.J. Smith--my OG YA vampire author! Loved these books! And no, I stopped reading them when they hired a ghostwriter, so I only ever read the first three of her "newer" ones.
8. THE FORBIDDEN GAME by L.J. Smith--yup! Read this one too! Loved the classic omnibus cover and thought it looked creepy good and it was!

7. BITTEN by Kelley Armstrong--another Urban Fantasy classic! This time with werewolves!
6. 13 TO LIFE by Shannon Delany--a more modern pick, but a classic for me as I feel like this was the first time I was OBSESSED with a cover! And the story was amazing too! This was during the Paranormal YA comeback years!
5. OLD MAGIC by Marianne Curley--another true classic for me, lol. One of my first paranormal reads as it involved time traveling, witches, curses, evil sorcerers, and of course a bit of romance! Lol.

4. ALCHEMY OF SECRETS by Stephanie Garber--yes, a 2025 book is in my classics choices! Lol. Pretty much any Stephanie Garber book will be a classic for me! As you can tell!
3. ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART by Stephanie Garber--a wonderful trilogy of redemption! Of course, it takes a bit to get there!
2. CARAVAL by Stephanie Garber--I KNOW! I KNOW! I shocked you by having this in the #2 spot! I was going to put it in #1, but then I just liked seeing all of Stephanie's books in their own row and I did feel a bit compelled to choose my next book as my #1.

1. DEMON IN MY VIEW by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes--yes, this is my #1! This is my ultimate classic as it was my first vampire book. It was the book that compelled me to want to read more paranormal books despite finding a lack of them. This was the book that further spurred my love of reading as I was a reader at the time, but I became more obsessed with reading after this one. So this book is very, very special to me and kind of has to be in the #1 spot! Caraval can be 1A ;)
