Let's Discuss: Vampires & Werewolves

I'm back with another topic! Lol. I've always been a paranormal reader. Once I read that first vampire book, I was a goner for contemporary reads. I mean, back in that day, I still read them, but it was more because there wasn't any other paranormal book to read. But anyways, I wanted to talk about my conflicting love between vampires and werewolves.

Vampires & Werewolves

Vampires were my first love. It just so happened that I picked up a vampire novel first. I'm not sure what my first werewolf read might have been. Maybe Blood & Chocolate by Annette Curtis-Klause which really had me loving the werewolves because holy smokes that was awesome! And this is the book, not the movie. We don't talk about the movie version. Lol.

There was always a mix of vampire and werewolf reads going on with my reading pile. Then when I picked up "adult" books I opened the door to a whole slew of other paranormal characters. But of course, I always tended to favor the vamps and the weres--which soon opened the door to other were-animals, like werecats! And we're talking BIG cats, the mountain lion, panther, cheetah-rip-your-face-off kind of cats! Lol.

I honestly could never really pick a favorite to be my number 1 fave. I know sometimes as paranormal readers we ought to have a favorite creature feature...but alas, I just can't seem to do that. I love my vampires, but then when I think about werewolves, I'm all atwitter for them! There have been sooo many good books with each "creature" so it's really, really hard to pick just one!

And this year, I am seeing the return of these beloved character types and I am all for it! I'm wrapping up (or possibly just wrapped up) Shelby Mahurin's vampire books and where I am not as I write this, they are AMAZING! I am also eagerly awaiting debut Jordan Stephanie Gray's Bitten! Which is about werewolves! Yes, Bitten can be hard to figure out which creature feature is involved, but I've been following Jordan for awhile now, so it's clear it's werewolves and if you had any doubts just check out the amazing cover!

So yes, I basically can't decide which creature I like best! They are both just so awesome to me and I get giddy either way when I pick up a book where they are the star!

Any paranormal readers out there? Do you have a favorite creature feature in books? Or do you favor vampires over werewolves or vice versa?
