Let's Discuss: Authors Changing "Age" Levels

Okay, I'm finally back with a discussion! This month has been crazy busy, work is nuts and then I had a few signings to attend these last few weeks. My mind has been full to bursting with regular stuff I couldn't quite think of anything fun to discuss! Until now!

Authors Changing "Age" Levels

Remember way back when the YA genre started booming again? I'm thinking more of the Paranormal part of the genre when they were all just popping out on the shelves! It was awesome! Then I started seeing some of the authors I read who wrote for "adults" start writing YA titles and I was like FUN! Now I am noticing the opposite happening! YA authors are now debuting with their adult books and I just find it...I don't want to say funny, fun I guess! Lol.

True, lots of their YA readers who started with them are growing up, but as I have been hearing some of them speak about it, the story also just called for adults. The things that happened, the things the characters lived through, it needed to be an adult's perspective. Or some other cause, something pulled at the author that this needed to be adult characters instead of their usual YA.

I do find it enjoyable in the sense that the actual YA readers who started with these authors can now read from an adult's perspective as a young adult too though! This recent "boom" of YA authors writing for adults just kind of had me smiling in remembrance of a few years back when it was the opposite! Funny how time changes.

Have you read any "adult" books that have been written by a largely YA author yet? I've some piling up on my TBR like Marie Lu's latest but can't quite think just yet if I've read any so far from others. It's early as I write this as I've a long to do list this Sunday! Lol.
