This week's question is: Will AI ultimately benefit or harm the book industry? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
MY ANSWER: I am absolutely horrified that it will harm and destroy the industry as we know it. They are already allowing AI to "scan" books and see how one is written and can apparently write something in that vein. It's freaking terrifying. My sister is a teacher and has to tell her students to "not to use AI to write a paper" for them. Because it can do that! I mean who knows if it will produce accurate information as I was seeing just last month, AI can totally get things wrong as an author I follow claimed she's apparently married and showed a screenshot of Google AI saying she was married to so-and-so. She claimed "I'm Married! To someone I don't even know!" And then the next day AI said that the author further claimed that she was married, PROVING the truth behind their statement.
So yes, I am terrified AI will harm the book industry and the art industry and likely other industries that aren't really coming to mind just yet because we haven't seen the harm starting. So yes, we are living in the early stages of just about every or any dystopian novel.
