Another great week! I didn't intend to get so many books, but then a lot of my requests from Netgalley suddenly got acknowledge and approved! One's still pending, though and at this point, that's fine with me!

Basically I love the entire series! Looking forward to the finale! This was one of my first adult reads, so it holds a special place in my heart!

BITTEN

by Kelley Armstrong (Otherworld series)

I think this one is really one of my most faves of the series too! Basically LOVED the Elena books! Although Stolen was pretty awesome too and what sets off the rest of the series.

HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE

by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress series)

I loooooved this one! Such a perfect example of extraordinary UF! The series was incredible!

DEMON IN MY VIEW

by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (Den of Shadows)

A YA UF read, but my first ever vampire novel! So yes it was re-read several times and loved all over! It holds a special place in my heart!

OLD MAGIC

Another early Paranormal YA read that I ADORED! It was beyond one of my most fave reads as a teen that I reread over and over! I loved it! So it's definitely one of my faves of my genre!

This week's question is: Are you also a writer and what genre or did you ever consider writing? - Suggested by The Pegster Reads

MY ANSWER: Yes I am, but sadly I've been having massive writer's block and basically just being a bad writer. I haven't touched my manuscript in months!

But anyways, I write Urban Fantasy! It was my first love before I even knew what it was, and that's what I write! I've been in the querying trenches and wracked up a nice chunk of rejections. My genre is still a little too hot and I guess my story isn't unique enough to gain attention. I'm also in the process or trying to rework that one a little bit and work myself out of the hole or over the wall I've hit with my other WIP!

I really do hope to one day be published! It's been my dream since I was 13 and basically started reading paranormal books--what little I could find--and it was also when I started writing my own stories. Ones that will never, ever, ever see the light of day! Those are just so entirely laughable, but that was when I basically knew nothing! So I've come a looooooong way since then! :D

Random Thursday

So are you ready to be amused, bored, WOWED with more Jaws facts? Well I got more coming for you all!

Did you know that one of the original points in the story, involving this scoutmaster and his death was going to be a bit more...gruesome then initially intended?

So in the movie when we finally SEE the shark in all his 25 feet glory as he chomps down on this poor guy and he ends up losing a leg. Initially, the story was written that as he's being chowed down on and still alive (eep!) he grabs hold of Michael, like one would do, grabbing for help while you're being eaten alive by a killer shark! He was going to hold onto Michael until the shark disappeared down into the ocean with him.

But thankfully, Steven saw that this might be a bit too much, too graphic. So instead Michael just watches nearby and our scoutmaster with shark glance at him as he swims below the water!


And remember these are all true facts regarding the movie! I learned most of them through the anniversary DVD booklet and few others from watching a documentary regarding the movie!

ARC Review--Red Blooded by Amanda Carlson

After Jessica's brother is kidnapped and taken to the Underworld, she will stop at nothing to get him back. But before her grueling training is finished, Jessica's power mixes unexpectedly with the circle and she's dropped into the Underworld without protection or her escorts.

I received this ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review. 


Amanda Carlson's Jessica McClain series is an incredible example of awesome Urban Fantasy! The series has been a whirlwind of action and adventure from the getgo and the pace doesn't let up with Red Blooded!

Jessica, Rourke and Ray are planning on entering the Underworld in order to rescue Tyler who was taken by the Prince last go around. But the plans changed when Jessica accidentally enters the Underworld on her own. She decides to move forward with her plan anyway to rescue her brother, but she's going to need help navigating the place and that help comes from an imprisoned demoness named Lily. Jessica is leery of trusting her, but Lily proves her worth again and again. 

This was definitely an exciting read, although I was sad to see Jessica without Rourke and her friends for nearly half the story. But they do gather together about halfway through as a nefarious plan in the Underworld starts to unfold and Jessica plans on stopping it.

At times I feel incredibly sad for Rourke and Jessica, for ever since they met, they rarely have time to be together. They have to steal whatever little moments that they can and Amanda definitely delivers on those moments. It definitely makes the moments all the sweeter, but still, there's some sadness for these two since time is always against them!

We see some returning characters in this one! Such as Ray and Naomi; Ray continues to surprise me with his personality. I didn't care for him when we first met him, but he's definitely growing on me now! Naomi wasn't in the story but for the end, but she is still yet another enjoyable side character that I always like seeing page time of!

The action doesn't stop until the very end when a new problem comes up and sets Jessica and her friends on their next course of action. And there's a whammy of a cliffhanger to case it off! It's going to make waiting for the next one just as unbearable as the wait for this one!

Red Blooded was a simply awesome read that is one not to be missed! With werewolves, action, romance, suspense, and a heroine with the best name ever--what's not to love?! ;)
