Review--Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil…

A vampire has attacked a girls’ school—the assault one of sheer, vicious madness—and it is only the first act. Rampant bloodlust takes vampire after vampire, threatening to make the streets run with blood. Then Raphael himself begins to show signs of an uncontrolled rage, as inexplicable storms darken the city skyline and the earth itself shudders.

The omens are suddenly terrifyingly clear.

An ancient and malevolent immortal is rising. The violent winds whisper her name: Caliane. She has returned to reclaim her son, Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena, the consort who must be destroyed…

Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series has fast become one of my new faves! Archangel's Consort was an ultimately thrilling read and an outstanding addition to the series!

Elena is determined to find the vampire that attacked the girls' school, which was where her half-sibling attended. The young girl who died was a friend of her sister's leading Elena to believe that there is something more to this attack than that meet's the eye.

But not only does she have that to deal with, but Raphael's mother, Caliane is starting awaken. And that is not a good thing. She has to be stopped, but no one knows where her resting place is, and besides, killing an angel while they are in Sleep is forbidden and considered a heinous crime, no matter who the angel is.

This was another fast paced book that I was able to breeze through and yet still feel like I was getting a lot of story info and what not. We see more of Elena's memories, of witnessing her sisters' murders and her mother's death. We've been seeing her memories for awhile now and I still wonder if it's building to something that might come back later, but only time will tell.

Once again I have to comment on Elena and Raphael's relationship. I simply adore it! There is real passion between these two! Such an intense love that they would do anything for one another. Singh shows you that depth so well in the age old adage "show, don't tell". Singh must have done very well in her English classes!

So cannot wait to read Archangel's Blade later this fall!

Overall rating 5/5 stars!
