Review--The Vampire's Fake Fiancee by Kristen Painter

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Sebastian Ellingham isn’t known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife comes to town expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he’s been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he’s still available (he is) rankles.

His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancĂ©e. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town’s deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game for her, the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.

When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans…

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Kristen Painter brings us yet another amazing and entertaining novel from Nocturne Falls! One of my most anticipated characters stars in The Vampire's Fake Fiancee and that would be Sebastian. Ever since learning he's a bit of recluse and a brooder due to his wife leaving him after being made vampire, I was interested in this guy! He's a bit standoffish but I was still intrigued. You could tell he's a good guy, just been burned badly before.

We open up with quite the surprise in this one, Sebastian learns that his estranged wife is blowing back into town looking for him. But feeling the burn of a few hundred years of rejection, he tells her he's happily engaged and not looking to rekindle anything. Not satisfied with that, Evangeline demands to meet the "lucky woman" and that's when Sebastian finds himself in a pickle.

Luckily for him, this is when he walks into an interview for the prestigious school in town and meets Tessa, sister to Jenna, a police office in town. Jenna offers Tessa up to play the role of fake fiancee in order to get Evangeline out of Sebastian's life and Tessa being the lovely person that she is agrees.

It's hard to see Tessa and Sebastian being a couple at first. Tessa is a bit too quiet, being a librarian and all, and I totally get her timidity, being a kind of shy person myself. But Tessa has a lot more strength to her than meets the eye. She's a Valkyrie, like her sister and is a forced to be reckoned with, when pushed. Tessa and Sebastian don't hit it off at first, but as they get to know one another, to prove to Evangeline they are a legit engaged couple, they begin to fall for one another.

Things get even more interesting when Evangeline invites herself to stay at Sebastian's house to see that he and Tessa are truly happily engaged and she agrees that if by the end of the week, if he and Tessa are truly happy together and if she can't "win him back", she sign the papers that would divorce her from Sebastian and cut the ties they share for being a sire and siree.

But naturally, there are some secrets going on. Sebastian has one he's been keeping since before he and Evangeline got married. Tessa has her own dark secrets she strives to keep in the past, and naturally, one shouldn't trust Evangeline and her intentions with a six foot pole. Nobody has ever liked her after all! LOL...and you can see why!

I continued to be entertained and delighted with every Nocturne Falls book I read! Julian is my last gotta get him to have a book asap character I'd like to see. Of course that had me looking at some other characters who seemed to step into the spotlight for however momentary. Like Jenna or Alice, the assistant to Ellinghams' grandmother. When you see a world filled with so many characters, you basically start itching to see them all in a book of their own! And with so many characters, I can see this series spanning on for a good long time and as long as Kristen is happy to write them, I am MORE than happy to read them!!

If you're wanting a fun and entertaining read, than you seriously can't choose better than the Nocturne Falls series! Every book has been fun, quirky, and filled with a sweet as can be romance. What more could a paranormal reader ask for?!
