ARC Review--The Professor Woos the Witch by Kristen Painter

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.

Pandora Williams is Nocturne Falls’ most successful real estate agent. And least successful witch. Her magic never has the intended outcome, but she’s learned to live with that. Mostly. Yes, it sucks, but what can she do? Then a hot new neighbor shows up and suddenly her magic works. Very cool, but very suspect. Especially since he’s a total non-believer.

Cole Van Zant likes practicality and absolutes. Things he can see and touch. So not magic. But when his teenage daughter insists she’s a witch—and they’re now living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day—he needs help. Of the witchy variety. Thankfully, his sexy neighbor buys into all that hocus pocus.

Enlisting her help seems like a great idea until spending time together reveals a supernatural surprise about who Cole really is. A secret even he didn’t know. Could Pandora and Cole really be meant for one another or is their attraction too much to believe?

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

So when Kristen Painter dropped me an email and asked if I wanted a review copy of The Professor Woos the Witch, I pretty much abandoned my reading queue schedule and dove into this book as soon as I finished my current read, because yeah...still can't stop in the middle of a book yet! LOL! And what a read it was! I adore returning to Nocturne Falls! It's seriously one of my favorite literary worlds to visit, like right up there with Hogwarts! I enjoy it THAT much! I seriously want my own supernatural boyfriend and live happily ever after in this town! Ah...living the dream!

Anyways...The Professor Woos the Witch is the story that focuses on Pandora, the witch/real estate agent. Except the only successful magic she is able to reign is in selling houses. Her soon to be love of her life (not a spoiler since this is a paranormal romance!) is Cole Van Zant, a total nonbeliever in all things paranormal. Why move to Nocturne Falls, you ask? Well, he inherits a huge mansion that belonged to a distant relative, and being a college professor, he has summers off. So he takes a sabbatical to Nocturne Falls to fix the house up, because he also knows a thing or two about construction jobs. Accompanying him is his 13-year-old daughter who believes she's a witch. And Nocturne Falls is basically, calling to her!

Cole, as I said, is a nonbeliever, but when Pandora spins into his life, he starts to accept that maybe there is some truth to the magical claims. Especially when they tie into his life more than he initially thought, what with having a daughter believes she's a witch.

While trying to fight their growing attraction to one another, Cole and Pandora work out a deal of sorts. Pandora can list the house and help out with the renovations to be made, if she helps Cole's daughter out with her burgeoning powers. Naturally, sparks start to fly between the two. And there's a definite magic in the air (hee hee. Sorry, couldn't resist! And it fits too!)!

But like with all calm, pleasant moments in the story, there's a storm to come. And it comes in the form of Cole's ex-wife and mother of his daughter.

This was yet another can't put it down for anything kind of read! It's fast paced and quirky. I seriously love this town of Nocturne Falls! All the characters are so wonderful and personable. We're always seeing past main characters from the previous books and I loved that! Still can't wait to hopefully see Hugh's brothers get a turn with a happy ending! One brother is a recluse who's been burned before, the other is sort of a playboy. So seeing them find the right woman is going to be a delightful story!!

Besides having a swoony romance, that while is a little bit insta love, it still has a slow burn to it! The two have the insta-attraction down pat, but it's nowhere near a closed case of happily ever after, after that! There's still hurdles these two will have to overcome! And really, who doesn't want to see that?! There's plenty of intense moments too, I mean, his ex-wife who pretty much disappeared from his life after the divorce walks back into his life at the drop of a hat...so something's up there! And the mystery that builds from that was quite surprising!

Nocturne Falls is seriously one of the best paranormal romance series I've ever read! It's a fun little town where Halloween is celebrated every day! And the characters are just so remarkable! They all seem to have this really tight bond with one another...and it's just awesome! We see some new names popping up in this installment, so keep a weather eye out on them, for they might be seen again sooner than you think!

And as always, I just wanted to mention again the incredibleness of this series! It's truly amazing and undeniably fun! You also don't "need" to read the books in order, as each one will standalone, but if you happen to read out of order, you will be slightly spoiled with the past couple's outcomes. But again, we pretty much know with paranormal romances that everyone lives happily ever after! Especially in a standalone. But you still get to have the enjoyment of reading how they get there, and believe me, you will not want to miss out on any of these stories!!
