I kind of forgot to include the location in my snapshot. But it's likely in Chapter 2, if I recall correctly!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

This week's topic is: Ten Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get

*in no particular order
**oh gawd! Could this topic be any harder?! And not to mention all the stink eyes that will be thrown about today! LOL!

1. CELAENA--okay please don't hate me peeps!! I just was never able to get into this story. Perhaps I never really clicked with Celaena. But the only upside is there are a few less books for me to read in the never-ending TBR pile!
2. KATNISS--perhaps again I might be cheating with this one because I never read it. I wasn't invested in the storyline like everyone seemed to be at the time. Long before the movies too! But yeah.
3. ETHAN--it's been quite a few years and several hundred books since I've read this series, but yeah, by the end, I wasn't a fan of Ethan. He did something that really affected my trust for him and ever since then I was displeased with him, moreso because he was THE love interest.

 4. KEENAN--okay, I didn't necessarily not like Keenan, but I struggled to understand him at the best of times. He was a character I liked, but didn't like. He was confusing. Of course, I had more than a few moments of confusion with this series.
5. ERIC--he's another character I liked but didn't like. Granted, in the beginning I liked Eric, but towards the end, with the whole "marriage" or whatever label was on his and Sookie's relationship he started to bug me. Of course, that was only one of the things that started to bug me about this series towards the end.

And that's really all that I can think of! I don't usually have characters I dislike that everyone loves! We are usually in the same boat when it comes to shipping and not shipping characters!

  1. I love Celaena, but I agree, her personality is not for everyone. She's quite vain, haha. :)

  2. Nice teaser! Haven't tried any of her books yet, but this one could be fun :)

Thanks for sharing, here's my TT :)

  3. Love the tease- and agree with the scent of snow. Your list is interesting. I only read the Hunger Games on it, and only after the movies. My students tried to tell me it was wayyyy different- it had only 4 scenes that were left out that enhanced the plot so not that much different.

  6. So I only know Katniss and Keenan. I was not a Keenan fan. I didn't not like him but I love so many others more. There were lots a great characters in these books.

I did like Katniss. She was fierce and brave and selfless most of the time but she was also disconnected and had a wall so it was hard to connect. I get that. I think that is the way she was supposed to be.

  7. 100 TIMES YES TO CALEANA. I just did not get the appeal.

  8. Celaena had to grow on me. I love her now though. I can see why you wouldn't like Katniss. She can be so rude... I was fine with her until I think the last book.. then she got kind of annoying.

  9. What! I love Celaena and Katniss. But I can see how they are not for everyone. Celaena is a bit conceited and Katniss is prickly. But I like them for these character flaws maybe.

  10. Celaena bugged the hell out of me in the first book, so I completely understand! Her attitude was almost intolerable in Throne of Glass.

  11. I definitely see your point with Eric and the series overall. I had even more of a problem with Bill and Sookie though.

  12. I will admit I did like the Throne of Glass series the first time through, though when I went to read them a second time for the release of Queen of Shadows, Calaena's personality really hit me and I was kinda like "Ohh...I clearly missed this." I can tolerate her, but the first book is pretty mediocre for her character and she irked me. Still like the books, but I can easily see where you are coming form.

  13. I wasn't mad about Eric, but I ended up disliking Bill a whole lot more. By the end, I was underwhelmed by ALL the men in the series! I really liked Katniss and her rudeness - why wouldn't she be chippy after what happened to her? I haven't read the others, but keep hearing good things about the Throne of Glass series, so might have to catch up with it once I've got my TBR pile under control...
My TT this week is a new venture from an established author

  14. I never really got Keenan, either! But really, when he had to compete against Seth, that was a given :p

  15. Nice teaser. I can't judge most of those characters because I don't remember enough about them or haven't read the books. Offhand, I can't think of a character that I didn't like who wasn't already the villain of the story. Happy reading!

  16. I am honestly so glad to hear you say that about Throne of Glass!! I'm actually two books in and I own books three and four, but I can't decide whether to keep them or not because I really didn't love books one and two! It's just such a MASSIVE series to commit to when I'm already not loving it. We need to talk about this more!!

    Here are my Top Ten!
