I have here 10 Fascinating Revelations about Beauty and the Beast, 25 Years Later by Jessica Radloff! And omg, the writer is a Jessica!! How cool is this?! LOL! So I'll divide this post in two weeks and again, share the link with you on the last post day, i.e.: next week! ;)
I'll do a sort of summary for these factoids as they're sort of just a short paragraph of sentences pertaining to the astonishing factoid!
The Inspiration Behind Mrs. Potts
Angela Lansbury commented on her character, saying she felt like a nanny. She even knew of a little old woman who was a cook and had a cockney accent. So I think that's where she derived her voice for Mrs. Potts.
A Major Moment from the 1992 Oscars
Paige and Angela reflected on how nervous they were when they went to the Oscars in 92 just after the movie released in November 91. Paige remembers being so nervous and Angela commented that this would be the time to be nervous (at the Oscars)! Lol! But then she added that if she sang like Paige, she wouldn't be nervous at all! (So sweet!)
Recording Booth Secrets
Apparently Paige O'Hara and Robbie Benson were allowed to do their recordings together, which wasn't something that was done back then (at all?) due to cost. But they felt it would help build their relationship and so it was!
Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford Auditioned
Yup, these two auditioned for different roles. Belle, the Beast, Belle's dad (Maurice) but obviously nothing felt right according to Disney.
Mrs. Potts was almost Mrs. Chamomile
Apparently her name was changed because Mrs. Chamomile was too hard to say. Ironically, Lumiere was almost named Chandal but was changed for the same pronunciation reasons.
Stay tuned for next week for the last 5 factoids and link to the article!
Ahhh, I love Disney and I ADORE Beauty and the Beast! I can't wait for the movie with Emma Watson, I think that will be amazing. Lovely and super interesting post! ^_^
ReplyDeleteBrittany @ Brittany's Book Rambles
Interesting. I think Mrs. Potts is perfect. I couldn't imagine her being named anything else.
