Teaser & Top Ten Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by MizB of Books and Beat

Here are the rules:

1. Grab your current read
2. Open to a page
3. Pick out 2 lines that are SPOILER FREE
4. Name the title, author, etc

Multiple teasers for this one!! Because as you all likely know, I ADORE this series!! One's a bookish one that will resonate with a lot of us booklovers and the other is a Janco teaser at its finest!! ;)

"He gripped the page to rip it free from the book.
Yelena stopped his hand. 'The library won't like that.'
Since so many student magicians had spent long hours in here researching over many years' time, magic had infused every inch of this place--the library was very protective of the books." p 364*

Janco picked up the top half of a broken mannequin.
'This place went bust.'
Everyone groaned at the bad joke.
'Come on, guys. That's a classic.'
No one agreed.
Ari turned to Valek. 'Please tell me you need Janco to travel far away from here for a dangerous undercover mission.'
'Let me guess,' Yelena said. 'He's been driving you crazy.'
'Janco and boredom don't mix well.' p 408*

*Quote comes from the ARC, therefore it and its page number are not final.

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

This week's topic is: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read For The First Time In 2016

*in no particular order

10. ALEXANDRA BRACKEN--yup, I didn't read her first series for some reason. Didn't grab my interest and I've reached the point of being picky about what reads I want to read. There's over 300 of them in my house so far! LOL!
9. LISA MAXWELL--didn't read her first book either. This one caught my eye because Peter Pan retelling! With Captain Hook as a hero on top of it. And yes, I totally envisioned Colin O'Donoghue as Hook!
8. BECKY WALLACE--finally read this one earlier this year...and still need to read the last one! LOL! I loved it though so I can't wait to see how it all ends!!

7. SARAH AHIERS--a few debut authors made this list...whoops! Lol! I loooved this one though and can't wait to see what else Sarah will write in this world!
6. APRIL GENEVIEVE TUCHOLKE--picked her up when I heard she was coming to St. Louis earlier this year. Her books were definitely intriguing! They were mysterious and rather good! Can't wait for more from her either!
5. ALWYN HAMILTON--another debut author that I fell in love with!! So awesome!!

4. MARIE RUTKOSKI--binge read her Winner's Curse trilogy this year, best decision ever! Because holy cow those endings!! Total cliffhangers! Yay for binge reading!!
3. NATALIE D. RICHARDS--this was her first YA book if I am not mistaken...unless those contemps I just saw on Goodreads were actually YA, but I digress. My first time reading her and I quite enjoyed this one!
2. KERRI MANISCALCO--oohh this one was SOOO good!! I loved it! So mysterious and that ending! Man! I didn't see it coming!!

1. KIM LIGGETT--this one was pretty good. I wasn't as creeped out as I hoped to be, but I definitely plan on reading more from her!

BONUS PICK--because I literally had 1 more new to me author that was from this year and not a 2017 debut! LOL!

AMY LUKAVICS--this one was pretty creepy! There was so much weirdness to it! And I soo can't wait to read more from her!

  2. Great list! I read Natalie D Richards for the first time this year too and I agree that One Was Lost is a very enjoyable book. I'm hoping to make it to The Winner's Curse and Passenger in 2017 if all goes to plan, I've owned both books for ages now.

  9. Nice top 10 list! You picked a lot of authors on my TBR pile that I haven't had a chance to get to just yet. I even bought all of the pretty books and had them signed but haven't been able to sit down and read them. The only book on your list that I had read, Blood and Salt, was a disappointment for me but I am glad that you enjoyed it.
