This week's question is: What were some of the most memorable books you read as a child? What made them memorable? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
MY ANSWER: One of my most memorable ones was The Random House Book of Fairy Tales edited by Amy Ehrlich.
This was a collection of fairy tales by various fairy tale authors, Grimm, Andersen, and others of course. It was memorable for me because I felt like this was my introduction into the true gritty fairy tales. Granted, these were still somewhat edited for children, but it did introduce me to other tales I wasn't familiar with via Disney. And it was my eye-opener to how the tales originally went before Disney adapted them.
Of course reading some of these in their more "adult" versions gave me another eye-opener, granted not as much! But this is definitely one I remember since I would check it out of the school library at least once or twice a month!
geez...i can't remember many books. call of the wild was one and the only reason it popped up is because of the new movie

I didn't read that much as a child and what I read, I read for school so nothing is memorable for me.

:D Have a nice weekend!
Enid Blyton fantasy was my starter-for-ten ;-) although I did dip my toes into horror during my teen/adolescent years and, like you, I liked reading original fairy tales.

Oh my gosh! I forgot about this one!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get into Fairy Tales until I was an adult! It would have been charming as a child, however.
