I mainly started out buying a few books, but then I saw the BEAR, the cute little bear and realized I HAD to have him!! LOL! So I bought these 9 books for myself and then 1 for my bestie! See, I told you guys in my Instagram picture of the entire stack that they weren't all mine! Just 9/10! ;) The whole kit and caboodle came to about $46 with shipping, and four of my books were hardcovers, so that's basically less than $5 a book!! Plus a FREE teddy bear!! :D


Then for review from the publisher via Edelweiss I got:

Then some Birthday goodies were:

 A very pretty necklace I picked out some time ago. It's hard to tell from picture, but it's a Mystic Fire gem which is a blend of purples, greens, turquoise...it's beautiful!

 An adult coloring book from my aunt!

 A Frozen bookmark for my collection of bookmarks!!

GIFT CARDS!!! 2 B&N's and 2 Amazons!! And I'm one of those people who will only use an Amazon gift card for books! LOL!

Then some things I bought for myself were:

 The 100 season 2 DVD, Ant-Man DVD, and The Scorch Trials DVD!

Totally true, but cover love is another thing entirely!!! ;)

DNF Review--Queen Song by Victoria Aveyard

In this 55-page prequel novella set in the Red Queen world, Queen Coriane, first wife of King Tiberias, keeps a secret diary—how else can she ensure that no one at the palace will use her thoughts against her? Coriane recounts her heady courtship with the crown prince, the birth of a new prince, Cal, and the potentially deadly challenges that lay ahead for her in royal life.

While I enjoyed Victoria Aveyard's Red Queen, I sadly could not get into Queen Song whatsoever. It's a prequel novella that basically allows us to see what Coriane, King Tiberias's first wife and Cal's mother was like before she had Cal.

I'm not sure what the problem was. Perhaps, I struggled to connect with Coriane since she wasn't a character I knew well at all. I only managed to read about a chapter and a half before I finally just gave up with the novella. I suppose you could say it was the pacing that threw me off the most. It dragged. It didn't really have anything exciting going on or leading into something exciting that I was aware of.

Coriane did have it tough. Some relative or mentor she had was a total evil witch to her. I did sympathize for the poor girl. But it became to the point where I was just reading to try to finish it. And I still had quite awhile to go and even for a novella, that's too long. When you find yourself not enjoying the story at all? Why spend time reading something you aren't enjoying?

While I enjoyed Red Queen and will continue the series, I'm afraid this prequel set of novellas just isn't doing anything for me.


No rating as it was a DNF read.

This week's question is: If you could write a book what would it be about? - Suggested by Go Book Yourself

MY ANSWER: Well, I've written one, sorta. I say sorta, because I go back and forth over making changes. Literally, back and forth! I submitted it last month to Harper Voyager's "open submission" dealio. And basically my book involves vampires! My first love, but not my only!

It involves a young woman learning about vampires existing and after being kidnapped by one she meets, soon learns that the father she never knew about, is in fact a vampire.

Shenanigans ensue, naturally! ;)

 

Random Thursday

Another interruptus from my little book of facts for this Disney Fun Fact from my Disney Days Desk Calendar (2015)! ;)

Sigh...we were SO close to have Disney World in Missouri, sometimes I wish I never knew that particularly factoid!

Happy Birthday!!

It's my birthday! Yay! Haven't quite reached that point where I don't want the birthday to come around. Not too excited about getting older though! But I am looking forward to going out to dinner tonight! And getting my favorite birthday cookie cake! Lol!! The day would be pretty much perfect if I didn't have to work, but sigh...I must do what I have to do!

And it's also my niece's birthday as well! She's 7 today...going on like 27! Girl seriously acts older than she is and that's not necessarily a good thing! But she's still my niece!
