ARC Review--Blood Hunt by Lucienne Diver

"Fame is no longer the name of the game...it's survival."

Latter-Day Olympians, Book 5

Tori Karacis is back in L.A., relieved to once again match her passport photo thanks to a tattoo that controls her gargoyle-esque wings. Her newest case doesn't involve gods or an impending apocalypse. It does, however, involve murder.

Jessica Roland's suspicions began when her brothers returned from Egypt eerily different. The terror kicked in with the ritualistic murder of her parents. Her "real" brothers would never have done such a thing, yet their guilt seems indisputable. What could it be? Curse of the Pharaohs? Some kind of brain-eating bacteria?

At the scene of a second attack, there's evidence it's the work of Set, the god of chaos, who should have been locked away a long time ago. And "hello," there's a new arrival. Neith, a warrior goddess who's got the hots for Tori's ex, Nick Armani.

Tori should be cool with that. After all, she's involved with Apollo-"that" Apollo. Still, it's a bit much for Neith to ask for seduction advice! Meanwhile, Set is gaining strength, chaos is leaking all over the place, and L.A. is a powder keg set to blow.

"Warning: Relationships heat up and danger mounts. Prepare for chills, thrills and kills when Chaos makes its Hollywood debut."

I received this eARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

Tori Karacis is back in Lucienne Diver's Blood Hunt! This series has quickly become one of my faves because what's better than seeing Greek mythology and paranormal elements combined? It's the perfect fun kind of read with a sassy heroine to boot!

Tori's winged secret is out, but thanks to living in L.A., basically anything is possible. While trying to keep her relationship with Apollo on the downlow from the press, she's taken on a new case from a young adult girl who believes her brothers have been possessed or something wonky is going on with them, as they killed their parents. She's worried about them and fears for her own life. Naturally, Tori is on the case.

This time, we throw in some Egyptian mythology to jazz things up! Set is our big bad this go around, and it's up to Tori to keep him from rising to power again after he's been imprisoned for years on end. Then there's Neith who's a goddess hunting for the ones who want to raise Set, and she and Tori cross paths. As does Nick, Tori's ex and Neith's new crush. Neith is basically your Egyptian version of Athena, so she's a virgin goddess and all that, and her feelings for Nick are true, and it seems Nick might feel the same. Which is all dandy, as Tori is with Apollo. I was glad to see Tori wasn't rift with jealousy, she even agrees to help Neith with her flirting skills. You know, in between saving the world and all!

The action in this one was intense! So much goes on! And there's so much danger! It was awesome! There are several close calls for Tori and her friends! I loved seeing Hermes again! He's so funny! And since I basically just read this book before his novella, I'll be interested to see what that one is like!

Blood Hunt is a fairly fast paced read and it's all sorts of enjoyable! There's snark, action, steamy romance and just all the goodness one expects from a good paranormal read I will definitely be looking forward to reading Tori's next adventure!

Overall Rating 4.5/5 stars
