Review--Something Deadly this Way Comes by Kim Harrison

I'm Madison Avery, in charge of heaven's hit squad . . . and fighting it all the way.

When Madison died the night of her prom, she knew her life would never be the same. Now she has a powerful amulet, a team of rogue angels by her side, and the ability to flash forward into the future to see the shape of destiny. And of course, now she's finally with Josh—a perfect boyfriend who doesn't even mind that she's dead.

But being dead has its disadvantages, too. Madison feels caught between the light and the dark, and between her real life and her timekeeper status. When Madison has the opportunity to get her body back—to be alive again—she faces her most difficult decision yet. If she claims it, she could return to being a normal girl—and have a chance at a real relationship with Josh. But would having the one thing she wants most in the world also mean giving up everything she's worked so hard for?

Kim Harrison's Something Deadly this Way Comes completes her Madison Avery trilogy and I was able to get it finished in day! It was a pretty fast read too! Kim has always been one of my fave authors, ever since I started reading adult UF and her YA UF series has been just as fun!

Madison is the dark timekeeper and her life has been difficult ever since she died on her prom night, ahh high school. She has had a tough ride ever since trying to act like she's a normal living girl and hiding her secret life from her father, but it hasn't been easy and her next "case" is even more difficult.

Madison foresees the death of a young boy that devastates his sister. And Madison is set to change the boy's--and ultimately, the girl's--fate, but things do not go as planned. But as the saying goes, "try and try again!". Which is exactly what Madison does.

On her quest though something strange happens and Madison gets a glimpse of her body. She wants more than ever to be a normal living girl again and yet still be the dark timekeeper, trying to change fate and give people the choice to change their lives. The discrepancy between light and dark timekeepers has always been troubled. They each believe different things and refuse to see a common ground--the outcome Madison wishes could be made real.

This was an incredibly fast paced read. Took me all of one day to finish it. It was pretty good too. Madison has some tough choices headed her way and she's going to have to make a choice. It's been an enjoyable trilogy and I think the ending was good as well. It leaves you with enough to know that the characters will move on with their choices while the story has ended. I like that feeling.

The characters are good as always! Grace, the little ball of light/angel kind of reminds me of Jenks at time. Maybe a G-rated Jenks! She's always singing little rhymes about the current predicament and it lightens the mood a bit. Gives a bit of humor to the situation. Like Jenks, she is the comic relief!

Overall rating 4/5 stars
