ARC Review--A Cursed Bloodline by Cecy Robson

The Weird Girls return in another edge-of-your-seat novel from Cecy Robson! Just when Celia thinks the supernatural world can’t turn deadlier, a new rival emerges, proving just how dangerous a power-hungry were can be.

Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves.

From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.

Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.

I received this ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

After the earth shattering ending to Cursed by Destiny that left me reeling for months, I was more than happy and eager to dive into Cecy Robson's A Cursed Bloodline! And what a read it was! Talk about thrilling!! Seriously, I was laughing, crying, and gasping from shock after shock at only 24% in! It was a whirlwind of the read. Of course, now I'm left wondering...what's next?! Is there more?! Please tell me there's more Cecy!

As we all know at this point, Celia is pregnant with Aric's child and just as they are about to be together happily, the *insert-choice-evil-and-unplesant-words-here* Anara explicitly forbids such union. Of course, he doesn't tell this to Aric and Celia, just Celia, in the form of deadly threats and abuse. Anara is one seriously wicked dude and I hope he suffers eternally in the fresh hell meant for novel villains! *insert-reader-manaical-laughter*

With threats put upon herself, her sisters and friends and even Aric himself, Celia does everything she can to simply break up with Aric and remove him from her life. But it's easier said then done. There's going to be a lot of damage and heartbreak to endure before the day is through. And naturally, she can't tell anyone what's happening, so all her actions lead the others to think there's something wrong with her, that she may even be going insane or something. This kind of scenario always drives me insane, but in a good, but not good, way. Yeah, that's a contradiction, but it is what it is. Basically Celia is the only one who knows what's going on with her and no one else can and they think the worst of her. It's heartbreaking.

But then there's Misha! I seriously love that guy, but not for Celia. I am totally Team Aric in that matter, but I still love Misha. He's a fun loving character who's grown on me from the first book. He cares for Celia deeply and every time I think Celia might have a change of heart, I feel my own clenching. Regardless, Misha remains to be a consistent friend to Celia, despite wanting more than friendship.

A lot happens in this story! More than I expected. Despite the ordeal with Anara, we have a kidnapping and rescue mission, then another rescue mission of sorts when another character's life is in danger! It's all over the place, but again, the chaos is a good thing! It keeps the blood pumping!

Celia's sisters continue to be a delight! I love those girls! I love their sisterly bond too! They really care for one another and their individual personalities always bring a smile to my face! Taran with her sassy attitude, Emme with her kind and gentle soul, and Shayna with her ever so fun spunk!

I don't want to get into too many more details because that will head to spoiler territory, but I will say this was an emotional read! There were so many feels as I mentioned earlier, and those feels persist throughout the whole novel. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, laughed some more, cried even more...yeah, Cecy really knows how to work the feels in her readers.

It's hard to tell if this is the final Weird Girls book or not. It ends like it could be, but yet, I still feel like there could be more story. Whether it is or not I feel like it was yet another remarkable read from Cecy and I look forward to more paranormal reads from her!

  1. Oh, Jessica. I'm so happy you loved A Cursed Bloodline. I'm happy to tell you that it's not the last book in the Weird Girls series. A Curse Unbroken which releases in March is the last "Celia" novel (for now!). After that, it's time for Taran to have her chance in the spotlight. Thank you for your kind words and your lovely feature, they mean a great deal to me. :)

  2. I am reviewing this one next week- absolutely loved it. I think Misha needs his own book.

  3. Fabulous choices, I did consider Kelley Armstrongs Otherworld character for my list but couldn't decide on one that stood out enough for me in this instance so went with someone else in the end.
