Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!,
WHOA! I had a pretty awesome and yet, harrowing week! As you all know, I drove to Dallas and Houston Texas this week. Dallas itself was 10 hours, maybe more like 9 and a half if you ignore the suggested speed limit! ;)
Besides getting a few books from the signings, I also hit up like 8 or 9 Half Price Books stores, and wow! I made out like a bandit at some of them! Here's what I ended up buying during the week:
Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder--UK YA edition! Much happy dancing over this find!
Black is for Beginnings by Laurie Faria Stolarz--despite some mixed reviews, I picked this one up because I LOVED the Blue is for Nightmares series I read years and years ago!
Maplecroft by Cherie Priest--I was initially asked if I'd like to review this one, but I passed because I was overwhelmed at the time, but when I saw it again and again, I gave in and bought it! I mean, a Lizzie Borden retelling? I can't pass that up!
Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer--UK edition
Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer--UK edition, now I just need the newer cover for Nightshade in the UK edition and I will have them ALL!! Bwhahaha!!
Deadly Little Voices by Laurie Faria Stolarz--this is book 4 and I still need to start book 1, but I couldn't pass it up for $3. Though I discovered something TERRIBLE when I pulled the price tag off:
Signed books that I bought were:
Sense of Deception by Victoria Laurie
Swerve by Vicki Pettersson
The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace
An ebook I bought:
Rowan by Josephine Angelini
Books I received for review were:
Lust by Alyssa Rose Ivy (ARC)
The Veil by Chloe Neill (Early Copy)
THANK YOU Alyssa & NAL Trade!!
Then other bookish items I bought were:
BOOKMARKS!
I bought a "magic" one that when you tilt it back and forth it makes Cinderella's rags turn into her beautiful ball gown! Since this was Walt's fave moment ever, I decided I needed it in bookmark format!
101 Dalmatians bookmark! Thought it was too cute and simply bought it on impulse!
Then I saw this lovely little necklace which is hard to see due to the lighting, sorry about that...but it basically is a picture of a stack of books with the words: CARPE LIBRUM on it! Which as we all know means, Seize the Book!
Then also, here's the swag I picked up from the YA signing! Sadly, Vicki didn't have swag on her! But I was happy to have met her...again! I met her once at RT in 2010, but this way I was able to see her again and then get the rest of my books signed and basically have full signed sets since I was only one book shy on her Signs of the Zodiac series, got the full Celestial Blues trilogy and of course, Swerve signed!
Some lovely bookmarks, buttons, stickers, bookplates, notecards all from the YA authors!
And perhaps my favorite, a map of Mary E. Pearson's Remnant Chronicles World! The same one that's on the end pages in the book! And it's even SIGNED!! :)
The flip side has a pronunciation guide of the language used!
Wow you got a lot of awesome books this week! I really enjoyed Deadly Little Voices and you have reminded me that I need to get my butt in gear and finish that series. Happy reading!

ReplyDeleteNice haul! I love finding bargains. It looks like you got some good books! I hate when my covers get damaged! I take a lot of pics on Instagram, so I'd be in tears if that happened to one of my books. The signing sounds like it was fun! You met some awesome authors! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Happy reading!
