Top 5 Sundays is a weekly blog meme created by Larissa at Larissa's Bookish Life.
Here's a little info about the meme taken from Larissa's blog:
Every Sunday I will post a TOP 5 list on the blog. It can be about anything and every week I'll have a new theme {You can vote on next week’s theme on my left sidebar!} and I will ad the Mr.Linky bellow the post so you can do a list with the theme and add you link to it.
Rules:
1 - Write a post listing your TOP 5 choices within the theme I chose (or was chosen on a poll) for the week.
2 - Mention this Blog on the post and link back to it.
3 - Fell free to use the Feature's image (there is a smaller size version of it bellow)
4 - After you've finished your post, add you link (of the post, not your blog's main page) to the Mr.Linky at the end of that week's post.
5 – If you don’t have a blog to post, just leave your list in the comments =)
This week's topic is: BOOKS FOR AN URBAN FANTASY 1ST TIMER!
Ooh this will be good! I might just go with the list that I used for my friend once I got her hooked on UF! Once again these are in no specific order!
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld series)
Kelley writes a fabulous series that features a variety of characters of supernaturals!
Stray by Rachel Vincent (The Shifters series)
Rachel has a kick-a$$ series that has were-cats--panther-like creatures--featuring Faythe, who can get on our nerves a lot, but she still kicks major butt!
Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress series)
One of my faves with a half-vamp vampire hunter! Bones is an uber sexy vampire and is worth reading every single book there is!
Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler (Jane True series)
This is a great book for a UF newbie because it has more than the traditional supernaturals in it and gives the newbie UF reader a taste of the lesser known supes!
Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines (H&W Investigations series)
Another great series that has a different kind of heroine in a different world setting, where we know supes exist, but there's a prejudice against them! Totally worth looking into to give the newbie a taste for all types of UF!
Awesome choices Jess!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! =D
Ah, I totally agree with the Night Huntress series, it works every time!<3 And Kelley Armstrong series is very good too (I still have to catch up with it; there are so many books in that series and so little time to read them...*sigh*)
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about Rachel Vincent's' and Nicole Peeler's books for a while now, thanks for the reminder - I'll try to get to them ASAP.
Great list!;)
xoxo
Great picks! I thought about adding Stray to my list as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteSeems like this Sunday Top 5 was made for me since I often resist UF. I've had these titles on my wishlist for a while now, just got to get to them.
Great picks, some of them will end up on my wishlist haha
ReplyDeleteI heart Stray and the Shifter series as well. That one def. made my list. I thought about putting Halfway to the Grave but in the end decided against it. Awesome list though :)

2.Full Moon Rising
3.Moon Called
4.Some Girls Bite
