Devastating News

That is how I'm feeling right now. I just found out that now Borders is officially closing FOREVER!

They couldn't get back on their feet so all the remaining stores are closing. Hundreds of people are losing their jobs. Bookstores are closing. No more books!

I've been shopping at Borders for years, before that I was at Waldenbooks--another division of the same owners. I've always always been a Borders girl at heart! They always had great discounts for books. So my $8 book would come out around $5-6 instead! And their Plus Rewards program quickly became my fave new thing!

Now it's all gone! :(

Now I totally understand the pain everyone else felt when their Borders closed. Now ALL Borders are closing. I have no idea where I'll be buying my books now...

  1. I understand while we have a B&N the same distance away we almost always shop Borders. Make me sad.

  2. We recently lost both of our Borders, and it's been quite sad. It was my preferred store and one of my favorite places. We have a B&N, but the store clerks are snobbish and the selection is meh. I guess I'm destined to shop online :/

  3. It's heart breaking knowing that a HUGE chain had to close it's doors especially because it makes the outcome and longevity of smaller, privately owned stores appear so bleak.

I never shop there but I understand the pain.

  5. I'm still in shock. I buy most of my books from there. Their coupons were fantastic for my budget, and allowed me to get more books that I normally could have. Barnes and Noble sucks for prices, so I guess I'll be sticking to Amazon and the Library from now on.

  6. I'm going to have to order all my books online now. I don't have a Barnes and Noble close to me. I like shopping at B&N but they just don't have the coupons and you can only get good deals if your a memeber. I am...but there is something about going and seeing the actual books. So sad!!

  7. I hardly ever went to our closest (30 minutes) Borders so I won't miss it too much but I did make it a point to stop in every time I was over that way.

Guess I should be glad I work in a large city with a B&N not too far away if I need my bookstore fix.

Sorry to hear about it! I usually order my books off Amazon anyway though, even if I use the Borders store as my browser. :)

  8. That is some devastating news. I don't know what I'd do if it were Books-A-Million, because that's where I do the bulk of my book shopping. Ugh, I used to shop at Borders and Walden Books, when they were in the mall but they got to where they were more expensive than B-A-M.
