Making our way steadily thorough the chapter on Space! After this week, we've 5 more weeks of the Space section before moving onto the next! Let's see what Shane Carley will teach us today in True Facts That Sound Like Bull$#*t!

Did you know that besides nova and supernovas, we also have hypernovas? Hypernovas are a supercharged version of a nova and are particularly violent and energetic supernovas.

Did you know that there are massive "galaxy filaments" that stretch across the observable universe and contain hundred of millions of galaxies. There are also massive voids, such as the Bootes Void, where there are practically no galaxies at all for hundreds of millions of light-years.

There's a planet that is almost as old as the universe itself, it's named Methuselah. It is estimated to be have formed when the universe was less than a billion years old. Scientists didn't believe that planet could form that early on in the universe's history and were baffled by its appearance.


Not sure if the blue surface is Methuselah or more the shiny dot in the distance. Thinking maybe the dot? Lol!

Did you know that scientists thought that the largest object in the universe was something that they named the "newfound blob?"

Did you know that about two-billionth of the energy that the sun releases hits the earth? The other planets don't even add a whole lot more to that total!
