This week's topic is: Top Ten Book Covers That Feel Like Summer

*in no particular order

10. THE DEAD ROMANTICS by Ashley Poston--the colors for sure! I'm hoping to read this one soon as I just learned Ashley is coming to a bookstore sorta near me, so yay!
9. KISS OF THE SELKIE by Tessonja Odette--
another I need to read, but tell me this cover doesn't say summer!
8. A WITCH'S GUIDE TO FAKE DATING A DEMON by Sarah Hawley--
the cheerful yellow gave me summer vibes! Plus starry nights!

7. HOLD BACK THE TIDE by Melinda Salisbury--another TBR book, but it's got ocean, it's got summer feels!
6. FABLE by Adrienne Young--
Fairy Loot style! This one gave me The Little Mermaid vibes, still ocean vibes as well, so summer! Lol.
5. THE SUN DOWN MOTEL by Simone St. James--
another TBR book but summer means travel and staying in motels, hopefully safe ones...

4. RECKLESS GIRLS by Rachel Hawkins--bright summer colors and flower vibes!
3. FLIGHT 171 by Amy Christine Parker--
more travel, more summer vibes, and thrillery. Summers are for thrillers!
2. HIDE by Kiersten White--
the one book I've READ from these! Lol. Bright summery colors and amusement parks, definite summer vibes in the thriller sort of way!

1. JAWS by Peter Benchley--because I always seem to choose this as my #1 summer read pick! Still positively true today!

Let's Discuss: The Pains of Collecting

Do you ever start out collecting certain books and then start to wonder, is it really worth it to keep it up? But then you'll notice you collected every available copy of the series and when it comes to that last book you think, shouldn't I just do it one last time?

The Pains of Collecting

For this particular topic, I am not considering my Stephanie Garber collection a painful expense! Lol! I was more so thinking of my collection of Crave books by Tracy Wolff! When the series started spinning out into all these exclusive editions from different stores at the third book, I dove in head first and didn't think anything of it! I was in love with this series and I was hungry for all that extra content! I know people said other people post the stories online in places, but to me that felt a little like stealing. I mean, we balk at people posting a book online for free, the extra content is kind of in the same boat. Even if it is only a few pages long.

So for the last 4 books of the series I found myself doing what I had to do to get all 4 exclusive copies! I guess on this last one it was just starting to wear me out. Mainly because there was NO Walmart in the immediate area that claimed to have the BRAND NEW BOOK on TUESDAY, the day of its release! So I waited until Wednesday, then Thursday, and still nothing! Then it sells out online so Friday I had to make a very long drive to pickup a copy! I created an online order to hopefully to tell me ahead of time if it was successful or not. I didn't receive anything that was negative so I hoped for the best! And luckily I did pick up the order and the book was there! I double checked it and everything to make sure the content was really in it too!

I'm not sure if I will do this with the spinoff series should it go that route...and it very well might. It has become a bit cumbersome financially to keep doing it this way. I might just have to stick with one edition...and maybe sneaking a peek at the extra stuff in the other stores. Who knows, we'll see what happens next year when we get closer to the release, I very well might change my mind! But at least this way my Crave series is complete in the desired fashion!

Have you ever started out collecting every exclusive edition of a series and start to feel a burnout towards the end? I also now have to hope I will meet Tracy again so I can get all my Cherish copies signed so that I can also have a signed series set! I was luckily she toured here for Charm last year, now I just gotta cross my fingers our paths will cross again! I sadly couldn't justify a Texas roadtrip at this time. It's a very long drive and for only 1 author I adore, it was just too much. Maybe next time! Hopefully she'll come closer for the next book!

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! The meme is now hosted by Reading Reality.

Well, it was another week! A short one but still a bit chaotic nonetheless! If that wasn't enough I started feeling a cold come about Thursday evening, just in time for the weekend naturally. As it stands now my throat is a bit scratchy and the meds are wreaking havoc on my head, not pain, but just that foggy feel you get from medicine sometimes. So I spent the better part of yesterday laying in bed, reading my book! Good times! Lol.

Here's what I got this week:

Cherish by Tracy Wolff--Target edition
Cherish by Tracy Wolff--
B&N edition
Cherish by Tracy Wolff--
Walmart edition, which took a doozy to find! But I got it!
Cherish by Tracy Wolff--
BAM edition

Yes, I know one can theoretically get all the stories from people who share online, but it felt wrong to do that. Plus I already collected all the Covet, Court, and Charm editions, it didn't feel right to skimp out on the Cherish one! I used a gift card on the B&N one, so really, I only bought 3! And I did get a sale/deal on the Target one way back when I preordered it, can't remember what, but it was a steal, I remember that much! Lol.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber--5th Anniversary UK edition! It's a glorious rose gold color! My picture captures it fairly well! I'm trying to decide what color I think Finale might be when it comes around to its 5th anniversary...silver? Maybe, but not sold on it yet. Lol.

Then I got my Fairy Loot May adult and YA book only subscriptions. I haven't joined the combo deal with it as I feel like I may cancel my adult one by the end of the year. I'm finding that I'm not really wowed by the "adult" choices. But I want to see what October's book might bring, just because I have a love for all things spooky and hope for something maybe on the paranormal side with this one! We will see! I also decided not to share the pictures of them, just on the off chance someone hasn't gotten theirs yet. I used to get spoiled ALL the time, so I try not to showcase them unless I've seen them multiple times already!

And then I received my May A Touch of Magic Designs order! I wasn't expecting any freebie bonus prints this time around since I didn't spend as much, but lo and behold, I did get two! Sadly, they aren't ones I really cared for, hence the reason I didn't buy them. They're still nice, but I might trade or gift them away later on should I see a want for them.

In honor of MerMay I got the Emilia mermaid and the Poppy mermaid, I love that she's reading a book too! Then the cupcake pin of the month was From Blood and Ash and I was so excited to get that one after the last few not being my fandoms. I know, I know, I don't need to collect them all, especially if they aren't my fandoms, but they are still so cool and cute! I'm already committed to them all at this point! Only 11 to go! Lol.

And that was it for me this week! So really, only 3 books to read when you think of it! Lol. Plus bonus material from 3 others!

This week's question is: What would the title of your autobiography be? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

MY ANSWER: Oh geez. Why does this feel harder than it should be?

Jessica: the girl, the reader, the dreamer

Yeah, let's just go with that!

Books from the Backlog #33

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. This meme is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books!

On the mysterious island of Nil, the rules are set. You have exactly 365 days to escape—or you die.

Seventeen-year-old Charley doesn’t know the rules. She doesn’t even know where she is. The last thing she remembers is blacking out, and when she wakes up, she’s naked in an empty rock field.

Lost and alone, Charley finds no sign of other people until she meets Thad, the gorgeous leader of a clan of teenage refugees. Soon Charley learns that leaving the island is harder than she thought . . . and so is falling in love. With Thad’s time running out, Charley realizes that she has to find a way to beat the clock, and quickly.

I still so desperately want to read Lynne Matson's Nil! It sounds like a creepy and eerie read and totally my style! I added it to my pile in September 2014, a few months after it released and I still haven't picked it up! I love a book that features a spooky deserted island where weird things happen! Tracks back to my LOST days I guess! Though that show was a trip! Lol!
