So for the next Disney movie to delve into with little factoids is my all time favorite, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! For the obvious reasons, naturally!

  • Belle is the only princess with hazel eyes
  • Jackie Chan provided the voice--both speaking and singing--for the Beast in the CHINESE version of the movie.
  • Gaston is the first male villain to star in a princess centric Disney film--remember prior to this we just had Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid as far as Disney princess movies!
  • Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film in history to be nominated for a Best Picture at the Academy Awards!--sadly it didn't win that one, but did win Best Music, Original Score and Best Song with Beauty and the Beast (naturally)!
  • During the end fight in the movie, Gaston's original line was "time to die!" Disney decided this line was too dark for an animated film (yeah!), so it was changed to "Belle is mine!" But you can still see Gaston's lips mouth the original line in the film.--I have yet to check for this but must do it soon!
  • The little piece of hair that constantly falls in Belle's face is an intentional character detail added so it showed that she wasn't perfect.--though that being a flaw is pretty silly if you ask me!

  1. I have seen the movie many times and I did notcie that detail about Gaston. THE LINES ARE SIMILAR AS THE LIPS MOVE, SO YOU MUST BE REALLY OBSERVING TO NOTICE THAT.

Thank you for the post! This is my favorite Disney movie too!

  3. this is my favorite disney princess movie. I love belle. So many fun facts. interesting to think someone could tell a cartoon character's mouth looks different on belle and time.. enough to notice.

yes i wish my only flaw was my hair falling out of place. lol

  5. Beauty and the Beast is easily my favorite Disney movie...well it's between Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. I kind of want to look up the Chinese version just to hear Jackie Chan sing. I never noticed Gaston's mouth movements during that scene, but now I want to see if it actually moves to say "time to die." In reality though it's just another excuse for me to watch the movie. I chuckled at the last fact you gave about Belle's piece of hair. Disney always like to sugar coat things in a nice way.
