Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! The meme is now hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

Another meh kind of week. Nothing really exciting happening. I did have a few phone interviews and one in-person one, so I am hoping that at least one of those will pan out into something positive! Fingers crossed! Other than that it was mostly uneventful, despite some icy weather Friday which made my commute home oh so fun! 😑

The only thing I got this week was my Owl Crate box! I won't share the title but it was one I knew beforehand and decided to go with it since I looooooved the tale it's a retelling of. I'll be interested to see how it will go since it's YA and the character would have to be a teenager, so I know it's not going to be an exact replica, but I'm curious for sure!

The rest of the items in the box were a mix of delights and meh. I know the "box-people" like to say that you can happily use the items even if you're not a fan of the fandom, but I gotta say, that's kind of inaccurate! I mean, would you wear another team's jersey on game day, one you weren't a fan of, just to wear a team jersey? I know I wouldn't.

So other than an item or two outside the book and pin, I might be putting the items up on the trade hashtag eventually. As again, it's a little underwhelming to want to use or keep items from a book that I wasn't a fan of.

What did you all get this week?

  1. Nice, enjoy your Owlcrate! From your description I have a good guess what the title might be, off to do a google search to see if I'm correct :)

  2. The good news is, that you get a lot of interviews. Statistically, one needs to be a "YES" at some point, right? I hope the retelling ends up being fabulous.

  6. Emily got her Owlcrate box too! I have mixed feelings about the cover and I wished I had liked the book more. I think I just loved the book that inspired the retelling so much it just fell a little flat for me.

    1. Yeah, I'm going to try to go into it with an open mind. The more I thought about the original, I was realized a YA adaptation is going to be next to impossible. Changes have to be made to the extreme, and that's ignoring the gender swap! Lol. So hopefully I'll remember this thought when I start it eventually!

  7. I was really lucky on Friday that my work sent us home before the weather got ugly. Ice is no fun! Honestly, I haven't read most of the books the items in the Owl Crate box are associated with but I will use the items anyway. I am weird like that :) What did you think of the cover change? I like the original cover so much more than the Owl Crate exclusive cover but it's not a big deal.

Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    1. I was honestly a little meh on the original cover. I didn't love it, didn't hate it. Just eh. So this new cover is kind of nice since it's totally different from the original one.
