MY ANSWER: Oh wow. Tricky since I already like paranormal books and those can be spooky depending on the author's take!
Old favorites that come to mind are Dawn Kurtagich's The Dead House! Spooky haunted house vibes story.
Then there's Kendare Blake's Anna Dressed in Blood! Ghost story with the ghost as the main character! Creepy and delightful!
Another I remember loving was Kate Alice Marshall's Rules for Vanishing! Another ghost story with The Blair Witch Project vibes--never really saw that movie because I am a big chicken but I caught the gist of it! Lol.
