This week's question is: If you could “unread” a book, which one would it be? Is it because
you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or
because it was THAT bad?
MY ANSWER: Hmm...one book I remember reading way back in the beginning that I just did not enjoy was The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout.
The movies may have had a little part in that, but really when I do go back over it, it just comes up as something where I go, "What was I thinking?"
Perhaps I read this when I was too "young". I just didn't like it. There was too much sex and the f-word was used a lot. It's been so long since I read it, I just remember not enjoying it at all.
Another book I think I would have liked to unread is the Twilight Saga. Looking back on it now, I just didn't really care for it. You know how it is when you being to over analyze something. Well, when I over analyze that series, I come up not liking it at all.
TGIF is a weekly feature created and hosted by GReads! that re-caps the week’s posts and has different question each week.
This week's question is: Authors Are Our Celebrities: Have you ever contacted an author you
admired? How did that experience go? If not, which author would you
love to have a chat with?
MY ANSWER: Oh I love this! I do say that authors are my celebs! It's part of the reason that I bought the shirt that says authors are my rock stars. Close enough!
I have contacted authors! I think the first one I ever contacted was...you might have guessed, or not...Maria V. Snyder!
I was super excited about her books and this was when I wasn't overwhelmed with reads, so I contacted her, saying that I looooved her books and was an aspiring writer myself!
Then later on, I had to write a paper--my topic was about writing and me wanting to make it a career. I had to have 2 interviews among my resources, so I contacted Maria with a bunch of questions. I didn't use all of them for the paper, but I wanted the answers all the same!
And Maria was kind enough to answer all of them! Can't remember what I got on the paper, but doesn't matter! I got to talk to an author as "homework" or research really since it was a college paper! :D
Oh wow, what a great author to answer your questions for your assignment. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteI think I only liked Twilight because it was the first book I read before I started getting obssesed with books. So any book was awesome to me.
I have never heard of The Turning. Sorry those didn't work out for you. Your author answer is awesome. I bet that was the best HW you ever had:)
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the follow Friday hop, have a great Friday and an amazing weekend!

I loved Twilight up until BD which I am not sure what happened there. Didn't care for it as much.

Lol loved your author post !! I havent read any of Maria's book, maybe I need to give them a go !
ReplyDeleteI think all the sensationalizing and hype around the Twilight saga turned me off ... I just couldn't get excited about something that everyone and their dog was raving about. I'm still going to read the saga, though, to see for myself. I don't know about the movies though.
ReplyDeleteIs this the same Jennifer Armentrout that we know today? Obsidian and Onyx and Pure JLA?
ReplyDeleteAgreed on Twilight :)

I almost choose the twilight saga, but I'm happy for having read it despite it wasn't for me lol. Like that when everyone speaks about it, I can tell my opinion.

I love your experience with Maria! It's always exciting for me when people get to interact with authors they really love, and it sounds like your experience was just AMAZING.

ReplyDeleteHappy Feature Friday @ The Brunette Librarian??
I actually really enjoyed the Blood Ties series. It gets better, I'll tell you that. I actually was disappointed she didn't do a spin off series with one of the characters..I can see what you mean about the sec and f-words.. especially if you were too young.

Twilight seems to be a popular answer today, hehe.
ReplyDeleteI would totally un-read Twilight to experience it again! Haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, hun! :)
Hopping through. I still love the Twilight series, even though I agree with a lot of the criticisms. I overanalyze it tons but I'm still a mega fan. It kinda puzzles me.

I really feel the same exact way about the Twilight series. Although it was the series that really brought me into the paranormal series. Thanks for stopping by our FF.
ReplyDeleteAw, too bad you didn't enjoy "The Turning", that one has been on my wishlist for years now. The covers awesome though.
