Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

A decadent spring break getaway on an exotic beach becomes a terrifying survival story when six Miami teens are kidnapped and ransomed.

Maddie is beyond done with her cousin Genesis’s entitled and shallow entourage. Genesis is so over Miami’s predictable social scene with its velvet ropes, petty power plays, and backstabbing boyfriends.

While Maddie craves family time for spring break, Genesis seeks novelty—like a last-minute getaway to an untouched beach in Colombia. And when Genesis wants something, it happens.

But paradise has its price. Dragged from their tents under the cover of dark, Genesis, Maddie, and their friends are kidnapped and held for ransom deep inside the jungle—with no diva left behind. It all feels so random to everyone except Genesis. She knows they were targeted for a reason. And that reason is her.

Now, as the hours count down, only one thing’s for certain: If the Miami hostages can’t set aside their personal problems, no one will make it out alive.

I LOOOOOOOVE Rachel's books! I've been a fan of hers since I first read Stray! I remember it like was yesterday strolling through my beloved Borders and stumbling upon her book on the endcap of the romance section. I picked it up because the cover drew my eye, but I was super hesitant to read it because it was in romance. I had been burned before by buying a book from the romance section thinking it wouldn't be that "romancey" and it ended up being about sex in every other chapter. It was too much for me, I didn't mind a sex scene or two, but I didn't want in all throughout the story, which this one was! But I noticed that Kim Harrison AND Kelley Armstrong both quoted on the cover and I loved their books, so I trusted their judgment! LOL! This was before blogging, so I didn't know what other judgment to trust! And naturally, I ADORED the book and have been a fan of Rachel ever since! She's AUTO BUY people! :D

So sorry for that long winded paragraph too! LOL!

Nicole Castroman brings the dangerous pirate ports of the Caribbean to life in this vibrant sequel to Blackhearts—the reimagined origin story of history’s most infamous pirate, Blackbeard.

Edward “Teach” Drummond is setting sail to the Caribbean as first mate on the most celebrated merchant ship in the British fleet—until he rebels against his captain. Mutiny is a capital offense and Teach knows it could cost him his life, but he believes it worth the risk in order to save his crew from the attacking Spanish ships.

Sailing on the same blue waters, Anne barely avoids the Spanish attack, making it safely to Nassau. But lawless criminals, corrupt politics, and dangerous intentions fill the crowded streets of this Caribbean port. Soon, Anne discovers that the man entrusted to keep the peace is quite possibly the most treacherous of them all—and he just happens to hold Teach’s fate in his terrifying hands.

Life and death hang in the balance when Teach and Anne are given a dangerous mission. It’s a mission that will test their love, loyalty and devotion, forcing them down a path neither one could have ever imagined.

I first believe this series to be a duology, and right away I thought it would be better to wait and binge it. Well, I've since learned that it will be a trilogy. And I don't think I can wait another full year to start this series, so I will likely binge the first two, and then scream in agony when it ends with a likely cliffhanger! LOL!

  4. My exact thoughts about starting Blackhearts. I think I'll wait till you finish the two and see how bad the cliffhanger is before I start the series. Great choice this week.

  14. I'm so behind on Rachel Vincent's books. I really enjoyed her Soul Screamers series (until that last book), and I very much want to read her were-cat series. I just don't even know what all else she has out anymore though. Maybe someday I'll catch up...

  15. I think I'll be passing on 100 Hours, but I just got Blacksouls and I'm very excited to read it! Most of why I didn't love Blackhearts was because of the ending... Blacksouls will fix that, I'm sure. :D I hope you love these books when you get the chance to read them!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a fabulous week, Jessica. =)

  16. I wish I had read Blackhearts! Guess I won't be able to get excited for Blacksouls until I do :) But yes, it would be nice if it was a duology so I can binge it once this is out as well.
