This week's question is:  Do you have a favorite classic? When did you read it? High school or as an adult? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

MY ANSWER: Well, despite considering the original fairy tales as classics, I guess I will answer this in the "true fashion." A favorite classic that I read in high school--that shocked me to my core over how much I enjoyed it--was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas! We read the abridged version and I was so entranced with the story that I re-read it later that summer in its full version!! Yeah...ME!!!

And of course, I read Dracula at some point too. Probably in high school as well, but I can't remember when. It shouldn't be surprising that I enjoyed that one too!

  1. I fell in love with Pride and Prejudice when I was twelve, and ever since I've reread it countless times!

  2. I don't know if I can pick a favorite between Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Jane Eyre, or A Tale of Two Cities. I read all of these as an adult. I have yet to read The Count of Monte Cristo.

  3. The tension of living in this time period, the survival instincts of the characters, and the struggle as common people... these are which make this book such a great classic!

  4. I haven't read it but I did enjoy the film ;-) I don’t actually read classics any more, Jessica, I’m a contemporary paranormal romance or urban fantasy fan but I did read Dracula a couple of years ago, I liked it but remember thinking how different it was from all the films.

  5. I haven't read or seen the film for this one! I feel like I probably should have at some point but ... who knows! My favourite classic is The Bell Jar by Slyvia Plath! I read it in high school and then again as an adult.
