Let's Discuss: My Caraval Obsession

HAPPY FINALE RELEASE DAY!!!!

As you might know, I'm a big fan of the Caraval series and am slightly obsessed with it! I think it's 100% normal to be obsessed with at least one series. As a reader, I think it's necessary to have at least one obsession! Lol!!

My Caraval Obsession

The hardest part? I can't really explain why I am SO obsessed with it! The writing is definitely a factor! I love the lush world Stephanie created! It's truly a magical sort and the characters are A-MAZING!! Yes, A-MAZING!! No typo fraction there! Lol.

The characters can always make or break a series, but that's not an issue here as I loved them all! I loved hating Scarlett and Tella's despicable father, I loved Scarlett, Tella, Julian, Dante, Legend, and even Jacks, in his own way! He was definitely a character that confounded me from beginning to end, yet I can't say I hated him. His actions, yes, but not so much him! It's good to like a villain sometimes!

The magic itself was incredible! I always let myself get carried away, forgetting that number one rule: Remember, it's only a game! The shocks of seeing people die only for them to pop back up afterwards, never got old. Though once the game changed and things were real, the danger just amped up!

Re-reading this series back to back was one of the best decisions I've ever made! It was fun to be able to read the books one right after another, as they were meant to be. My poor memory addled brain much enjoyed this break and the experience was worthwhile and one I highly recommend doing!

Another thing that I remembered making a connection of the first go around, was how it ever so vaguely made me think of L.J. Smith's The Forbidden Game series! Another trilogy that involved a deadly and dangerous game, perhaps a little more dangerous. It also involved a guy named Julian, a character that made you wonder if he was villainous...or something else. Just little tiny things, the stories themselves couldn't be different, but it was just that dangerous game connection that had me seeing things!

Caraval is definitely a trilogy to read if you enjoy amazing characters, lush world-building, magic and of course, incredible romances!
