This week's question is: Do you continue with a book even though you aren't liking it? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

MY ANSWER: Well, I guess it depends on how much I am not liking it. If I think there's a possibility for a turnaround, I'll carry through. If I am really, really not liking it, I will quit. Depending on how much I've read, I might try skim reading to see how it ends.

With one my more recent reads I read about 200/300 pages and I was not liking it. At. All. It was supposed to be a mystery, but I read about 200 pages of everyday life. It killed me. Sure, it teased me every now and then with spooky stories and odd occurrences. Someone went missing. And then it was right back to the everyday life of so-and-so. So yeah. I pretty much threw in the towel where I should've just started the book! Lol. I did jump ahead to see whodunit but the funniest part was, I didn't know who that was. The name was vaguely familiar, so I knew they were introduced at one point. But I was past the part of caring.

  2. Great answer! I'm trying to get better at DNFing. Far too often, I push through a book I'm really not enjoying and then I get angry with myself lol!

  3. I hate not finishing a book so I've become more picky about what books I download; I know we don't all have the same tastes so I tend to read the lower ratings and if too many are bemoaning the same things that I don't like, I don't buy/download it. Harder with ARCs for debut authors but most of them are on Goodreads.

  4. Sounds like a pretty bad book!

Most of the books I end up not liking are ones I've agreed to review for an ARC, so I finish those. I don't run into many that I didn't get as an ARC that I dislike so much I don't want to finish it.

  5. I agree that the circumstances vary a lot but I'm not afraid to DNF these days. :)
