Mini Review--The Goddess Hunt by Aimee Carter

A vacation in Greece sounds like the perfect way for Kate Winters to spend her first sabbatical away from the Underworld...until she gets caught up in an immortal feud going back millennia. Castor and Pollux have been on the run from Zeus and Hades' wrath for centuries, hiding from the gods who hunt them. The last person they trust is Kate, the new Queen of the Underworld. Nevertheless, she is determined to help their cause. But when it comes to dealing with immortals, Kate still has a lot to learn....

Aimee Carter's The Goddess Hunt was a pretty interesting read! It delved into the myth of Gemini, one I wasn't overly familiar with, but this was quite fun!

Being novella 1.5 we get to see Kate on vacation in Greece, Athens particularly--which is absolutely beautiful!! I went there on my spring break trip as a high school senior, among other places. But Kate wasn't seeing the sites on this day, no she was wandering aimlessly in a forest with James, because he was set on seeing "something" there.

Turns out he knew where the brothers were hiding, having been on the run for 1,000s of years after Pollux got Castor out of the Underworld. It's hard to see what James might be planning at this time, but he and Kate talk to the brothers and soon Kate is sympathizing with them. All they want is to be together, they're brothers, twins. They have a brotherly connection going on. It's really not creepy, so don't think that!

As far as novellas go, it was pretty good! Kate gets a  little mini test of what her time as queen of the Underworld might be like. But things get wayyy out of hand when some of the other gods and goddesses start popping up. So much for vacation, right?

It was entertaining as short as it was. I liked seeing what Kate was doing during her time in Greece! There were a few moments that I thought stretched out a little too much, but nothing horrid. I sooo look forward to the next novella come summer time and of course the next book in the series.

Overall rating 4.5/5 stars

  1. I read these out of order 1, 2 then this one. So I was pretty happy to get in Henry's head and see some what of what he was feeling towards Kate. I wish we got more out of Henry though but what we did get I liked.

  2. Is this worth a read? I mean, other then being enjoyable, does it add much to the series? I'm kind of on the fence about whether to bother with it or not.

  3. Cool I love novellas. I still need to read this one. I am curious what Kate and James did for all those six months of their vacation.

  5. I got the first two books in this series this week but I haven't started reading them yet. I didn't realise there was a novella too so I might have to try and get hold of this one so I can read them in order :)
