Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

In the second book of the Carve the Mark duology, globally bestselling Divergent author Veronica Roth reveals how Cyra and Akos fulfill their fates. The Fates Divide is a richly imagined tale of hope and resilience told in four stunning perspectives.

Fate brought them together. Now it will divide them.

The lives of Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are ruled by their fates, spoken by the oracles at their births. The fates, once determined, are inescapable.

Akos is in love with Cyra, in spite of his fate: He will die in service to Cyra’s family. And when Cyra’s father, Lazmet Noavek—a soulless tyrant, thought to be dead—reclaims the Shotet throne, Akos believes his end is closer than ever.

As Lazmet ignites a barbaric war, Cyra and Akos are desperate to stop him at any cost. For Cyra, that could mean taking the life of the man who may—or may not—be her father. For Akos, it could mean giving his own. In a stunning twist, the two will discover how fate defines their lives in ways most unexpected.

I haven't started this series yet because I've made it a point to read duologies back to back (when able!)! Veronica's coming to St. Louis the week after this releases so I suspect I'll start Carve the Mark around then! :)

  1. I agree with your theory on duologies! I try to hold off even on trilogies sometimes--the wait between books can be just unbearable! I hope you really enjoy both of these sequels, Jess!

  2. Nice cover on Roth one (actually both). And yay you've got Veronica Roth coming to town!!

  3. I tend to do the same with duologies, and the one you shared sounds really interesting! Also, how great is that Veronica Roth is coming to town? Almost better than Santa, huh? ;)

Thanks for sharing, here's my WoW!

  4. I haven’t read either of these series. They are on my list though. :)

  5. I would love it if I found a dragon lived next door to me. :-)

  6. Oh man, I still need to read Carve the Mark! I'll probably do what you're planning and read it back to back *nods*

  7. I love the cover of The Fates Divide! Not sure if I'll read the book, but I can appreciate a gorgeous cover. ;) I hope you enjoy these books when you get the chance to read them!

Have a wonderful week, Jessica. =)

  8. I am such a fan of the Talon series. I am one book behind, but I am going to catch up before the next book comes out.

  9. The first one is new to me, and the second one is in a series I haven't caught up with yet, but I hope you enjoy both!

  10. I own Talon, but I just haven't read it yet. Boo. I want to, especially since I would like to buy all the hardcovers because they're absolutely GORGEOUS. And I too need to read Carve the Mark. I'm bummed about the cover font change, though. Like, why did that need to be a thing?

Comments are an award all on their own! So my blog is an award free one! Thanks for any consideration though!
