Hey all! Today I have a special guest on the blog! You might recognize her as she had a huge role in The Graces! No, I'm not talking about Laure Eve, silly! I'm talking about Summer! Summer Grace is River's best friend and I was most interested in talking with her since she's rumored to be involved with magic!!


Jessica: What's your favorite hobby?

Summer: Finding out secrets.

Jessica: Where did you learn your magic lore? Like when you were doing a spell during lunch with the students?

Summer: From my parents. Try and get them to admit that to you, though. I'd definitely like to watch how that would go.

J: If you could have a superpower what would it be?

S: I'd like to fly. Far, far away.

J: Do you truly believe your family is cursed?

S: Man, I don't know. Why don't you ask me again when everyone I love is dead?

J: Where do you think you'll be in five years?

S: A: The lead singer of the single most badass female fronted band in history. B: drunk in a sewer.

J: Do you believe in magic?

S: I believe in possibilities.

J: What are you hoping to happen with your newfound friendship with River?

S: What am I hoping to happen? Nothing. Everything. She'll let me in eventually. I'm determined to know everything there is to know about her. Whatever it takes.

10. ROSWELL--three seasons was not enough! This one was so cool what with trying to keep the whole we're aliens thing from everyone except their inner circle. Government enemies chasing after them, alien enemies coming/appearing to chase after them! So awesome!

9. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER--a beloved show that will always be missed. But I will admit it did go out beautifully! Still would've loved more though!

8. MOONLIGHT--one season nowhere even close to being enough! This was so awesome! A vampire private detective and there are more vampires hanging around the city. So amazing!

7. VERONICA MARS--I admit it. I came in wayyyy too late to the Veronica Mars game. The upside is that I didn't have to endure the repeated agony of having another beloved show canceled. It was already canceled, so I could only sniff at how we'd never get resolution out of season 3, but I will admit, that movie was FREAKING AWESOME! Absolutely what should happen with all canceled TV series! Note: CANCELED and not just ended with finality. Closure is necessary!

6. iZOMBIE--another Rob Thomas show, I am in love! This one is turning out to be pretty entertaining and I REALLY need to read those graphic novels.

5. SUPERNATURAL--a show that IMMEDIATELY caught my attention with the promo commercials wayyy back in 2005. My first thought was OH THAT LOOKS SO AWESOME! My second, I hope it makes it. :( Too many "supernatural" shows had flopped, see #8. But I am ecstatic to see season 12 to start up soon!! :D

4. SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU!--one of my beloved shows from childhood! All repeats of course! LOL! This was one of the first cartoons I remember watching with my grandpa and it became my favorite! Still is too! Scooby is just such a lovable dog!

3. A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO--ironically this one was before my time too. But only just! I remember watching the repeats on Saturday mornings! I loved it! Scooby and the gang as kids? So awesome! My mom would record them for me on the good ol' VCR! Oh god, I'm feeling my age again! LOL!

2. RUGRATS--ah, the 90s. The epitome of awesome cartoon shows! We have Nicktoons and of course the great line on Cartoon Network! Rugrats was one of my other early favorites. Probably a "my generation" favorite! LOL!

1. MAMA'S FAMILY--yet another older one, but one of my favorites! I never watched the Carol Brunette Show where this skit first came about. But I did watch this actual show (in repeat format). It was just so funny! I loved Vicki Lawrence (Mama) she was a riot! The first season was only so-so, but the seasons after that were hilarious! I still crack up with near tears watching a particular episode or two! Was so happy when they finally released the series DVD set, it was one expenditure I had to do! LOL!

Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!


Another good week! I added a wee bit to my TBR pile, but not too much. Which is always a good thing! LOL!

Here's what I bought:

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir--a keeper copy since I read the ARC and dear god the wait until 2018 will be disastrous! I hope it's early 2018! LOL!

2016 Series Ender Reading Challenge: August Wrap-up

Well I was really hoping I'd have two series wrapped up this month. But I fell a few days short of finishing my last series finale this week. Darn daytime job! LOL! But I did conclude one series this month and that was The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson.

For the Goddess of Wisdom, what Athena didn’t know could fill a book. That’s what her opponents said.

So she was wrong about some things. So her carefully planned assault on Olympus left her team beaten and scattered and possibly dead. So they have to fight the Fates themselves, who, it turns out, are the source of the gods’ illness. And sure, Athena is stuck in the underworld, holding the body of the only hero she has ever loved.

But all is not lost. Hermes is still topside, trying to power up Andie and Henry before he runs out of time and submits to his death, or the Fates arrive to speed it along.

And Cassandra is up there somewhere, too, on a quest for death…with the god of death himself.

Just because things haven’t gone exactly according to plan, it doesn't mean they’ve lost. They’ve only mostly lost. And there’s a big difference.

After a very busy week, I’ve finally managed to finish Kendare Blake’s Ungodly! It was quite a surprising end to the trilogy. I had so many theories and possibilities all planned out in my head and I don’t think any of them turned out right! LOL!

The start of this book was chaos, as in everything was chaotic with all the characters separated and doing their own thing. It was crazy! Yet I was enjoying it! We have Cassandra on a mission with Calypso trying to find Hades, because basically, Cassandra just wants to kill all the gods now. She’s mad and she’s planning to get even! Their first stop is to find Thanatos, god of death because who better to help kill a god then a god of death and a god killer of course!

Then we have Athena who is in the underworld as she protects a dying Odysseus. Hermes, Henry, and Andie who are topside are trying to find Athena. And of course everyone is still reeling with the betrayal of Achilles as he joins the Fates. There’s a war on the horizon, one that’s been coming for a long time now and its outcome will change everything!

This book was filled with so many surprises! I don’t want to get into the nit and gritty details, but let’s just say the characters were making surprising decisions that I didn’t see coming at all!

The beginning part of the book was perhaps the most chaotic as our group was so heavily divided. We basically hop from group to group to see what they’re doing and the chapters had the tendency to always end with some sort of cliffhanger! Then we’d go right back to another person and we’re left waiting to read through two more groups to see what they’re doing before getting back to group 1 and their cliffhanger! It made for suspenseful reading that’s for sure!

I think what surprised me the most by this series (and really can only go off of these last two books since I can’t remember the first book!) was the lack of romance. It’s rare that I come across a book with very little romance in it. Sure there was always tension between Athena and Odysseus and Calypso was in love with Odysseus as well. Though there was rarely ever any stolen moments. Perhaps a kiss here or there, but other than that. Nada. And oddly enough I was okay with that! Would’ve I had liked more? Well sure, but romance didn’t really fit with the story when you think about it. It was about survival and when it came down to it, family. And that’s a whole other kind of love, and one I was happy to see in this one!

Characters you thought you had pegged down will surprise you completely in this book. You think you might know what they would do in X situation, but again, the outcome will definitely throw you through a loop! I loved that! I loved how many twists and turns this one took! It wasn’t out bloodshed and tears though. So prepare yourselves! This will be an ending you won’t see coming!
