Books from the Backlog #29

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. This meme is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books!

It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line.

Some riders live.
Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn't given her much of a choice. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

So I added Maggie Stiefvater's The Scorpio Races to my TBR in July of 2014! I had actually driven to Iowa City (pretty sure...that or Cedar Rapids, I had another signing a year or two after this in the other city, whichever it may be!) that month for her release of Sinner! I LOVED the Wolves of Mercy trilogy and I was excited for the new addition to the series and I wanted my set to be completely signed, so naturally I did not balk at a 4 hour drive one way to see her! Although, I do remember staying there overnight when I probably should've just driven home, but oh well! Live and learn! Lol. Anyway...I picked up the paperback of this one at the signing because it was one of those "why not?" moments. And here it still sits on my pile almost 10 years later and the book is already over 10 years old so yes, I am shameful.
