Books from the Backlog #69

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. This meme is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books!

When Cora Mason wakes in a desert, she doesn’t know where she is or who put her there. As she explores, she finds an impossible mix of environments—tundra next to desert, farm next to jungle, and a strangely empty town cobbled together from different cultures, all watched over by eerie black windows. And she isn’t alone.

Four other teenagers have also been taken: a beautiful model, a tattooed smuggler, a secretive genius, and an army brat who seems to know too much about Cora’s past. None of them have a clue as to what happened, and all of them have secrets. As the unlikely group struggles for leadership, they slowly start to trust each other. But when their mysterious jailer appears—a handsome young guard called Cassian—they realize that their captivity is more terrifying than they could ever imagine: their captors aren’t from Earth. And they have taken the five teenagers for an otherworldly zoo—where the exhibits are humans.

So I added Megan Shepherd's The Cage to my TBR in May of 2015, probably right as it released! It sounded interesting to me and despite reading some unsavory reviews at the time. I still felt like giving it s shot...so much so that I bought the rest of the trilogy. Yeah. I have impulse control issues! Lol. My theory is that if I have all the books at the ready to read, I won't struggle to find the matching edition later on when I want it. I do gamble that I might not enjoy it but I am so rarely wrong about picking up books that I want to read. It does happen that one is not to my liking, but it's rare. So hopefully that will hold true for when I read this series...eventually!
